"Absolutely, under no circumstances shall there be contact with the opposing side." Apple and Skydance have unveiled the official trailer for a thrilling new sci-fi action masterpiece titled "The Gorge," masterfully directed by the esteemed Scott Derrickson, renowned for his works such as "Sinister," "Doctor Strange," and both installments of "The Black Phone." Scheduled for an exclusive streaming premiere on Apple TV+ in February, just before Valentine's Day the following year, this film, unfortunately, will only be available on streaming platforms, with no plans for theatrical release as of current knowledge.
Starring two elite sniper operatives, Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy, who are stationed in guard towers perched ominously on opposite rims of a vast, highly classified gorge, "The Gorge" promises an exhilarating ride. Their mission: to safeguard humanity from an unknown, sinister evil lurking in the depths below. Despite the vast chasm that separates them and the treacherous, corrupt world they inhabit, they forge an unbreakable connection amidst their vigilant defense against an invisible adversary. Amidst the chaos and peril, they find solace and a kindred spirit in each other – perhaps explaining the strategic Valentine's Day release date.
Rounding out the star-studded ensemble are William Houston, Samantha Coughlan, Alessandro Garcia, Greta Hansen, and the legendary Sigourney Weaver. This cinematic spectacle, reminiscent of George Miller's masterpieces, boasts a scope and scale far greater than one could ever imagine. It intertwines a poignant love story with a high-stakes mission to protect humanity from the gates of Hell itself.
As the catastrophic threat to humanity is slowly unveiled, Miles and Anya must unite in an ultimate test of their physical prowess and mental fortitude. Together, they race against time to keep the gorge's dark secret buried.
Directed by the acclaimed American genre auteur Scott Derrickson, whose credits also include "The Exorcism of Emily Rose," "The Day the Earth Stood Still," "Deliver Us from Evil," episodes of "Snowpiercer," a short in "V/H/S/85," and of course, Marvel's "Doctor Strange" and both parts of "The Black Phone," "The Gorge" is penned by Zach Dean. Produced by David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger, Scott Derrickson, C. Robert Cargill, Sherryl Clark, Adam Kolbrenner, Zach Dean, and Gregory Goodman for Skydance, the film is poised to stream on Apple TV+ from February 14th, 2025.
