Universal Pictures, with a proven record of turning video game franchises into box office hits, including the iconic 'The Super Mario Bros. Movie' and the thrilling 'Five Nights at Freddy's,' has secured the rights to adapt 'Ruiner,' a fast-paced action shooter that immerses players in a dystopian future.

Set in the neon-drenched cyber metropolis of Rengkok, year 2091, 'Ruiner' follows a wired psychopath, fueled by rage and desperation, as he embarks on a relentless quest to unravel the corrupt system that has kidnapped his brother. Guided by a shadowy hacker, the protagonist navigates a landscape rife with brutal violence and cutting-edge technology, each step bringing him closer to the dark secrets lurking beneath the city's glittering surface.

Ball's schedule is brimming with exciting projects, including potential sequels to the 'Apes' saga and the highly anticipated 'The Legend of Zelda' adaptation for Nintendo and Sony, but he has dedicated his talents to breathing life into the intense world of 'Ruiner.'

Kelly McCormick and David Leitch, the prolific producers behind adrenaline-pumping hits like 'The Fall Guy,' 'Bullet Train,' and 'Nobody,' will steer 'Ruiner' through 87North's collaboration with Universal Pictures, ensuring that the film's action and suspense match the intensity of the game.

A dream team of producers, including Dmitri M. Johnson, Mike Goldberg, Ball himself, and Joe Hartwick Jr., will oversee the production, while Timothy I. Stevenson, Dan Jevons, Marek Roefler, Magdalena Tomkowicz, and Jakub Stylinski will serve as executive producers. Universal Pictures' Ryan Jones, Senior VP of Production Development, and Jacqueline Garell, Creative Executive of Production Development, will meticulously oversee the project, ensuring that it captures the essence of 'Ruiner' and captivates audiences worldwide.

With WME representing Ball, Joe Hartwick Jr., and Story Kitchen, and Entertainment 360 and CAA backing Michael Arlen Ross and 87North respectively, this adaptation is poised to be a groundbreaking cinematic experience that stays true to the spirit of the beloved video game.
