After two exhilarating years of captivating performances, Adele has bid an emotional farewell to her Las Vegas residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. During her final show on Saturday night, the iconic "Hello" singer, tears streaming down her cheeks amidst chuckles, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to her loyal fans and her beloved ones, including her son Angelo and fiancé Rich Paul.
"To my dear son, Angelo, I chose to embark on this residency perhaps because I utterly despise the rigors of touring," Adele confessed, her voice trembling with emotion, in a fan-captured video that was later shared on X. She continued, her eyes brimming with tears, "But I chose this path to preserve the normalcy of his life, and I succeeded in doing so. There's nothing in this world I'd trade it for, but now I cherish our weekends together, knowing he can't always be here. I love you to pieces... Thank you for bearing with me."
Turning her gaze to Paul, her steadfast companion since 2021, Adele said with warmth, "Thank you for always boosting my morale and making me feel invincible, like I could conquer any dream. There have been moments when I was physically exhausted or emotionally drained... and your unwavering support meant the world to me."
With a playful laugh, she added, "I still need to be pampered like a baby panda."
Since November 2022, Adele has been enchanting audiences with her Weekends with Adele residency in Las Vegas. Initially announced in 2021, the residency faced a challenging start, prompting Adele to postpone it entirely. In an emotional video message, the "Rolling in the Deep" crooner candidly admitted that the quality of her show wasn't up to her stringent standards and that she and her team weren't ready to commence on schedule.
As the concerts commenced, Adele generously extended her performance dates well into 2023 and subsequently through the majority of 2024. Her final series of shows is now scheduled to captivate audiences from October 25th until November 23rd of this year.
Addressing the enthusiastic crowd, Adele playfully quipped about her "emotional" state but revealed, "I found closure when Celine Dion graced my stage." Following Dion's surprise appearance during her October 26th show, Adele emotionally shared, "I cried for an entire week. A whole week," adding, "It marked a poignant full-circle moment for me, as it was the sole reason I ever aspired to be here."
The 36-year-old chanteuse then earnestly thanked her fans for their profound understanding of her decision to embark on a residency and take a much-needed break from performing. "I'll deeply miss it and miss you all terribly. I'm uncertain when I'll next take the stage again," confessed the Grammy Award-winner.
Continuing her heartfelt speech, Adele quipped, "I'm not pursuing anything else right now. I'm genuinely at a loss about what's next for me. I truly have no concrete plans." She reassured, "Of course, I'll return. Singing and similar endeavors are the only things I excel at. I just haven't decided when I want to step back onto that stage, but I love you all deeply."
Reflecting on the dedication her fans exhibited by traveling to Las Vegas to see her perform, Adele said, "I know it's a significant endeavor to come to Vegas just to see someone perform. It's precisely what I needed during this chapter of my life."
During a September show in Munich, Adele candidly informed the audience, "I won't be seeing you for an incredibly long time." In July, she told Germany's ZDF public broadcast service that she was eager to explore other "creative avenues."
"I currently have no plans for new music whatsoever," she disclosed to the outlet. "I'm seeking a substantial break afterward and contemplate dabbling in other creative pursuits, just for a little while." She further admitted, "I don't enjoy being famous. I adore the fact that I can create music constantly."
