Debra Birnbaum's journey with ovarian cancer began at a tender age of 17, just after graduating from high school. This devastating diagnosis struck her personally, only to be followed by a recurrence at 20. Today, this brave survivor holds a prominent position as the head of awards at Amazon MGM Studios, but her latest accomplishment is far more personal and profound. Birnbaum has gracefully taken a seat on the board of directors at the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance, a nonprofit dedicated to advancing research on ovarian and related gynecologic cancers, while offering support to patients.

The Alliance, with offices in both New York and Washington, is a beacon of hope for many, and Birnbaum's presence on its board is a testament to her unwavering commitment. "My involvement with the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance stems from my deep belief in the crucial importance of early detection and relentless research into all gynecologic cancers," she stated. "I am humbled to join the board of directors today, to honor that commitment and further the Alliance's mission. Women, regardless of their age, along with their families and healthcare providers, deserve better education on the symptoms of cancer. Moreover, we must invest in more research to find treatments and ultimately, cures."

Audra Moran, the CEO of OCRA, expressed her heartfelt gratitude for Birnbaum's addition to the team. "We are deeply honored to welcome Debra into our fold. Her strategic vision, coupled with her personal dedication to our cause, will be invaluable in our relentless pursuit to eradicate ovarian and related cancers.
