Boy George recently reminisced on a comment he uttered regarding Liam Payne just before the latter's tragic demise in October. During his guest appearance on the 'High Performance' podcast, the seasoned singer recounted stumbling upon a video of the late musician's performance and casually remarking, "He's completely lost it." Acknowledging that his statement "wasn't particularly kind," George insisted that it mirrored his perceived reality. "I sensed it," he confessed. "I had the impression he was spinning out of control."

Though George and Payne didn't seem to share a consistent rapport, with their only notable interaction being a fleeting Twitter spat in 2013, the veteran artist, with over four decades in the music industry, has witnessed enough trends and endured his own share of adversities. Upon hearing the news of Payne's passing, one artist's name immediately resonated with him – Amy Winehouse.

"When it transpired, it struck me with the same intensity as when Amy Winehouse passed," he revealed. "It felt utterly pointless. I was awake at the break of dawn when the American news broke, and I was utterly disbelief. I couldn't fathom it, and I believe everyone felt the same way."

In the aftermath of Payne's death, George posted a heartfelt message on social media: "How sorrowful is the news of Liam Payne's passing. Waking up to such terrible news is just horrendous. God bless his family. I am utterly devastated. Rest In Peace."

During his podcast appearance, George recounted witnessing the "wrenching" images of the young artist's father visiting the Argentina hotel where Payne tragically plummeted from a balcony. He also recounted being "deeply offended" by comments accusing him of only caring about the tragedy "because he was good-looking."

"I was like, 'get lost, you fool,'" George exclaimed. "I care deeply about his family. I was genuinely moved to tears. I truly felt an immense sadness."
