Marvel's beloved frenemies are back in the highly anticipated second trailer for "Deadpool and Wolverine," the third installment of the "Deadpool" film franchise and its maiden voyage into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This time around, Deadpool and Wolverine engage in a bloody, hellish battle, their moves synced to the rhythm of Madonna's "Like a Prayer."
"I'm about to lose everything that I've ever cared about," Deadpool warns Wolverine in the trailer, to which Wolverine retorts with a casual shrug, "Not my fucking problem." Deadpool retaliates with a taunt, "Is that what you said when your world went to shit?" Prompting Wolverine to slash his claws at Deadpool's groin, only to be shot repeatedly in the torso by the mercenary with a mouth.
Later, the two heroes are seen chumming it up over lunch, Deadpool quipping, "Wanna talk about what’s haunting you, or should we wait for a third act flashback?"
Starring Ryan Reynolds as the wisecracking Deadpool and reprising his role as the iconic claw-wielding mutant, Hugh Jackman's Wolverine returns after his apparent demise in the 2017 farewell film "Logan." This movie marks the introduction of both these legendary characters to the MCU.
"Deadpool and Wolverine" comes nearly six years after the release of "Deadpool 2," a period that witnessed the conclusion of Fox's "X-Men" film series and Disney's acquisition of 20th Century Fox, which held the rights to both the X-Men and the Fantastic Four (the latter franchise also gearing up for its first MCU feature film).
Anticipation for Deadpool's latest installment is at feverish levels. The first trailer for "Deadpool and Wolverine," which debuted during the Super Bowl, shattered records by becoming the most-viewed movie trailer within 24 hours, amassing a staggering 365 million total views, surpassing the previous holder, "Spider-Man: No Way Home."
This raunchy, R-rated superhero film finds Deadpool dumped into the MCU after being abducted by the Time Variance Authority, the multiverse managers last seen in "Loki," and thrown into the same world as the Avengers.
Directed by Shawn Levy, the film boasts an ensemble cast including Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, and Matthew Macfadyen.
