Elon Musk hits out at SNL after being mocked in Trump segment

Elon Musk has publicly condemned "Saturday Night Live" (SNL) following a sketch that poked fun at him. On Saturday, November 9th, the US comedy series returned to the airwaves just days after Donald Trump's victorious US election, which left the Hollywood elite in a state of disbelief. Trump and Musk, who had previously polarized SNL viewers with Musk's "surreal" hosting gig in 2021, were both subjects of ridicule in the episode hosted by Bill Burr.

During the show's cold open, which addressed Trump's election win, stars sarcastically expressed their support for the president-elect to steer clear of his notorious "enemies list." As the episode progressed, SNL introduced its parody version of Tesla CEO Musk, portrayed by former regular cast member Dana Carvey.

When Kenan Thompson remarked, "If our planet falls apart, we can all go to Mars with the other man we love and trust: Elon Musk," Carvey emerged on stage, mimicking Musk. Wearing a dark MAGA hat and jumping up and down with his hands raised, Carvey lampooned Musk's infectious enthusiasm from Trump's second rally.

In a garbled voice, Carvey's Musk declared, "But seriously, I run the country now." Musk, who previously hosted the show in 2021, was far from impressed with the portrayal and swiftly took to Twitter, which he owns, to vent his frustration. He tweeted, "They are so mad that @realDonaldTrump won," and批评了Carvey的表演,直言:“Dana Carvey just sounds like Dana Carvey.”

Ahead of the election, numerous celebrities openly endorsed Kamala Harris, with figures such as Harrison Ford, Jennifer Aniston, and Arnold Schwarzenegger lending their voices to support the Democratic candidate. Conversely, Trump's celebrity backers included Musk, Kelsey Grammer, Hulk Hogan, Zachary Levi, and influential podcaster Joe Rogan, who endorsed him mere hours before the polls closed.

Musk, a staunch Republican defender, hailed the election results and expressed high hopes for the future. During his hosting stint on SNL in March 2021, Musk erroneously claimed to be the first person with Asperger's syndrome to present the show and poked fun at the pronunciation of his son's unique name, X Æ A-Xii, whom he welcomed with singer Grimes in May 2020.
