Jon Stewart Decries “Arrogant” U.S.-Israeli Missile Attack On Iran: “Our Bombs Are Now Smarter Than Our President”

Jon Stewart has reluctantly reintroduced The Daily Show's enduring "Mess O'Potamia," also known as "America's Next Top Muddle," to comment on the recent U.S.-Israeli coordinated missile strikes against Iran that resulted in the death of its Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei. The political comedian quipped, "Apparently, America had to start an entire war to kill an 86-year-old man in ill health rather than wait – I don’t know – three weeks for saturated fat to do its work."

In the immediate aftermath, the SWANA nation has chosen to bomb U.S. military bases in nations such as Bahrain, Iraq, and the United Arab Emirates. Stewart commented, "America and Israel attack Iran. And Iran's response is to just fucking attack everybody. You know, having been in a bar fight or two in my life, I'm pretty sure the worst thing you can do during a two-on-one beatdown is to slap everyone else."

During the program, correspondent Jordan Klepper appeared "not in Iran, but close enough to kind of look like I am if you squint [Istanbul, Turkey]" to create a false sense of excitement for the conflict: "Feels so good to be back at war! Those four weeks since Venezuela were so boring. Oh, man, things were so dull that we had to pretend to care about hockey. Dark stuff."

Klepper added about President Donald Trump's apparent lack of a plan, "Yeah, you can [wing a war]. Just sort of come up with it on the spot like jazz: Skibbidi bop bop, drone strike; shibidi wop wop, tomahawk missile; salt peanuts, salt peanuts, inevitable sectarian violence – jazz hands."

Stewart summed it up by saying, "I can’t believe it. Our bombs are now smarter than our president." He concluded, "How quickly the right has gone from peace through strength to peace through war. And we’re all just along for the ride, in a war with no clear purpose and no end in sight. It’s all just at the whims of Donald Trump."
