Kanye West, in a pattern now familiar to many once a year or so, has spent the past few weeks stirring up controversy, riling up emotions, and engaging in bigoted Twitter tirades. He has once again reverted to his antisemitic diatribes, insulting numerous other communities in the process, and has continued to rail against the industrial hurdles he perceives, whether justified or not. Ye's most recent meltdown revolved around his new album, "Bully," and its musical direction, which he seemingly cares little about compared to his quest for attention. On Thursday, March 6th, he tweeted, "This next album got that antisemitic sound," followed by, "My new sound called antisemitic."
Our last update on Kanye West's "Bully" consisted of clips showing him working diligently on the album alongside Playboi Carti, The Game, and others. While some fans eagerly anticipate the sound of this new venture, others cannot overlook his controversies or his recent habit of linking them to his art. Ye may still deliver compelling and impressive material. However, if this album contains more lyrics in the style of "VULTURES" that trivialize the harm he has caused, many listeners will not be inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt.
Elsewhere, celebrities and pop culture figures are reacting to Kanye West's outbursts and grappling with how to address them. Amber Rose recently opined on Club Shay Shay, "I've experienced the good side of him. But when he surrounds himself with people who feed into his dark side, he's not living up to his full potential. It saddens me to see some of the things he does sometimes, and I think, 'You don't have anyone around you who can sit you down, love you, and steer you in the right direction.' [...] I believe he has enablers around him who don't genuinely care about him."
Furthermore, it appears that this circle of "enablers" might be expanding, as Kanye West has expressed interest in interviewing Andrew Tate. As such, we doubt that the rest of the rollout for "Bully" will escape these controversies unscathed, but fans will undoubtedly tune in nonetheless. It remains to be seen how long they will stick around and why they choose to overlook his actions.
