Marvel Snap Gets Caught Up In TikTok Ban, Currently Unavailable In The US

Shortly after the TikTok ban took effect on January 19th, Marvel Snap was abruptly pulled from U.S. app stores, presumably due to its publisher, Nuverse, being owned by TikTok's parent company, Bytedance, at the time of its release. Despite TikTok's swift return to online service within 24 hours, Marvel Snap remains inaccessible to U.S. players, leaving them in the lurch.

"We were blindsided by this outage, which was unplanned and unexpected," lamented Marvel Snap developer Second Dinner. "Marvel Snap isn't going anywhere; we're diligently working to restore the game as swiftly as possible and will keep you posted on our progress."

While TikTok swiftly bounced back online, Marvel Snap's fate remains uncertain, with no clear indication of when or if it will be available to U.S. audiences once again. The recent decision by the U.S. Supreme Court to uphold the TikTok ban led to the app's shutdown in the country. It's worth noting that Bytedance had already divested from Nuverse in 2023, clouding the reasons behind Marvel Snap's sudden disappearance from U.S. app stores and casting doubts on whether it was intentional.

Marvel Snap had garnered immense success both critically and commercially, amassing a remarkable $2 million in revenue during its debut week. GameSpot's review hailed it as "an elegantly simple and inventive approach to digital CCGs that emphasizes adaptation and creativity," adding to its allure.
