'Mayfair Witches' Season 2 Episode 3's 'Vampire' Crossover Explained

Published: Jan 21 2025

The realms of Anne Rice's Immortal Universe are on a collision course, as evidenced in Sunday's thrilling third episode of Mayfair Witches' second season. This installment saw Lasher cross paths with a vampire named Felix, who imparted profound insights into surviving in the clandestine underworld. If Felix seemed oddly familiar, it's likely because actor Gabriel Freilich had already portrayed him in the season finale of Interview With the Vampire back in June 2024.

"Initially, we saw Felix as a disciple of Lestat," reveals Esta Spalding, the showrunner of Mayfair Witches, to TVLine. "Now, we find him endeavoring to impart some wisdom to Lasher." She underscores that this encounter marks a significant full-circle moment, perhaps more profound than viewers might initially grasp.

Spalding elaborates that during their respective first seasons, she and Rolin Jones, the showrunner of Interview With the Vampire, had limited communication as they were both "grappling with the unique dynamics of their individual worlds." However, with the Talamasca increasingly weaving itself into the lives of our beloved vampires and witches, Spalding believes that crossovers will become more prevalent as the series unfold. "We're hopeful for more intersections as the shows progress," she adds optimistically.

Drawing from Rice's extensive novel collection, AMC's Immortal Universe promises ample crossover possibilities in future seasons. However, Spalding cautions fans to exercise patience, especially when anticipating significant character encounters. "Prematurely unveiling the juiciest plot points would detract from their impact," she explains. "The anticipation must build organically. I constantly find myself pondering, 'When can we finally discuss Rowan and Lestat's meeting?' But it has to earn its moment."

Catch new episodes of Mayfair Witches' second season every Sunday at 9/8c on AMC. Season 3 of Interview With the Vampire is anticipated to premiere sometime in 2025, while another spin-off, tentatively titled The Talamasca, is currently under production.
