Megan Thee Stallion has embarked on a legal battle against blogger Milagro Gramz, accusing her of relentless harassment and perpetuating a web of "deceitful narratives" tied to the rapper's shooting incident by Tory Lanez in 2020. On October 30, Wednesday, Megan's legal representatives, acting on behalf of Megan Pete, filed a lawsuit in Florida against the blogger, whose real name is Milagro Elizabeth Cooper, according to court documents obtained by PEOPLE. The complaint alleges that Cooper serves as a "paid mouthpiece" for Lanez (Daystar Peterson) and disseminates falsehoods on his behalf.
In the lawsuit, the 29-year-old rapper asserts that Cooper not only shared a "deepfake pornographic video" of her on the former social media platform Twitter, but also accused her of having a "severe alcohol addiction," questioned her mental well-being, and labeled her as both an "angry Black woman" and a "lying tramp." Furthermore, the documents claim that Cooper falsely contended that the firearm used by Peterson to shoot Megan during the incident was missing and hence not presented during the trial, whereas Megan's lawyers assert that "the firearm remains under the custody of the Los Angeles Police Department."
Additionally, the lawsuit contends that Cooper has consistently doubted Peterson's guilt, despite his conviction and subsequent sentencing to 10 years in prison for the violent act. Megan's legal team is seeking a jury trial, monetary damages, reimbursement for "attorneys' fees and costs," and a "permanent injunction prohibiting Defendant Cooper from any future use or publication of intimate visual depictions of her."
Commenting on the filing, Megan stated, "It's high time bloggers are held accountable for years of harassment, cyberbullying, and the dissemination of misinformation about my personal and professional life." The Grammy-award-winning rapper added, "I've faced numerous assaults on my character based on false stories crafted by social media bloggers posing as journalists." Megan concluded, "Such unacceptable behavior must come with consequences, and these individuals need to understand that recklessly posting lies and defamatory falsehoods will not be tolerated."
Upon receiving the notice of the lawsuit, Cooper acknowledged it on Twitter, stating, "I've been informed that I'm being sued by Alex Spiro on behalf of his client Megan Thee Stallion." She further tweeted, "Countersuit about to go wild." Cooper did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for additional comment.
In December 2022, a nine-day trial culminated in a jury unanimously convicting Lanez, 32, of assaulting Megan with a semi-automatic firearm, possessing an unregistered loaded firearm in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence. The incident unfolded after a spat involving the two musicians and Megan's former assistant and ex-friend Kelsey Harris, which took place as they left a pool party hosted by Kylie Jenner in Los Angeles on July 12, 2020.
