Eight years have passed since Oliver Stone's last narrative feature, the politically charged "Snowden" in 2016. In the meantime, Stone has been a busy bee, helming documentaries that have showcased his unique vision. However, as he enters the twilight of his career, one question remains on everyone's lips - will Stone ever direct another narrative film?

Well, according to the filmmaker himself, he still has one more narrative film left to tell. And he's eager to get it done as soon as possible. Speaking to Deadline during his Cannes stint promoting his latest documentary, "Lula," Stone revealed his aspirations for another narrative project.

"I'd like to, I think I have one more in me," said Stone, his eyes twinkling with excitement. "I do have a narrative film in mind, but I can't quite divulge its secrets yet... It's an important story that deserves to be told. If I can pull it off, I'd love to have one more film to my name. And it'll definitely be done within the next year, that's for certain."

The question now is what subject matter Stone might choose for his next narrative film. Given his penchant for politically charged narratives like "Snowden" and "W.," there's no shortage of timely topics that could lend themselves to a compelling film. Perhaps Stone is eyeing a story that resonates with the spirit of "Savages" or "Alexander"? Or maybe he's dreaming up something entirely new and unexpected. We'll just have to wait and see.

Another hurdle Stone faces is finding financing for his next narrative feature. Major filmmakers have recently lamented the challenges of securing funding for their films, especially without resorting to the streaming route. And even then, things can still fall through at the last minute.
