The night, hosted by EMA board member Malin Akerman and actor Dermot Mulroney, unfolded at the picturesque Radford Studios. As the evening commenced with insightful remarks from board member Lance Bass and EMA CEO Debbie Levin, Akerman and Mulroney, who will soon star in Starz's The Hunting Wives, kept the audience engaged with their charismatic charm.

A recurring theme throughout the night was the urgent call to involve younger generations in the sustainability movement. Quinta Brunson, a shining beacon of eco-commitment, was honored with the EMA Futures Award, which acknowledges young professionals in the industry for their steadfast dedication to a greener way of life. Her Abbott Elementary co-star Chris Perfetti introduced her with a heartfelt and moving speech, extolling her virtues as a "force of nature" and a "modern marvel."

"Quinta Brunson is nothing less than a modern marvel," Perfetti exclaimed. "I firmly believe that in a hundred years, scientists will study her brain, seeking to unravel the mysteries of human productivity and genius." Perfetti also spoke of Brunson's compassionate leadership as the creator and star of the ABC sitcom, noting the remarkable loyalty of the crew, who have been with the show since its pilot. "How's that for sustainability?" he asked rhetorically.

As Brunson ascended the stage, she gracefully thanked Perfetti for his introduction. "Like everyone here tonight, I hold a deep affection for our shared planet," she declared. "I am proud to be part of a community that cherishes sustainability and is eager to forge ahead on this path, not merely recycling and composting old jokes but making meaningful strides."

Borrowing words from TV legend Norman Lear and music icon Bob Marley, Brunson addressed the audience, touching on the past, present, and future without ever losing their attention. She emphasized the overwhelming array of environmental challenges that collectively require our attention and effort.

"We are here because it is our collective responsibility to safeguard this planet for future generations, including the children on Abbott Elementary and the incredible members of the Pasadena Girls Choir who sang 'Big Yellow Tennessee' to open this evening," she said, referencing the talented young performers who had kicked off the night.

As she concluded her speech, Brunson expressed her gratitude. "Thank you for placing your faith in me; I will endeavor to continue being worthy of it," she said. "And thank you even more for all that you have done and will do for the future of our children."

Among the presenters at the awards were Ed Begley Jr. and his daughter Hayden Begley, as well as Nikki Reed, Ian Somerhalder, and Jesse Metcalfe. For a comprehensive list of winners, see below.
