The esteemed musician took to X (previously known as Twitter) to clarify that "I intended no disrespect towards the beautiful nation of Romania." Over the weekend, renowned rapper Wiz Khalifa faced arrest in Romania for allegedly possessing illicit drugs. Subsequently, he offered a heartfelt apology on social media.

According to a translated press release from the Romanian anti-organized crime prosecutors DIICOT, "[Khalifa] possessed over 18 grams of cannabis and consumed an additional amount in the form of a hand-rolled cigarette during a recital at the music festival held in the Costinești resort, Constanța county." The release further emphasized, "It is crucial to note that throughout the legal process, the individuals under investigation are entitled to all procedural rights and guarantees outlined in the Code of Criminal Procedure, along with the presumption of innocence."

Cannabis consumption for recreational purposes is outlawed in Romania. Khalifa was in the country for the Beach, Please! Festival, where he graced the stage on Saturday evening. A video clip circulating online captures the moment the rapper was escorted out of the venue by authorities. Though he was initially charged with illegal drug possession, he was later released.

Khalifa reflected on the incident, sharing, "Last night's performance was truly spectacular. I deeply apologize for any perceived disrespect towards Romania by smoking onstage. The authorities were extremely professional and allowed me to continue my journey. I plan to return soon, but next time, it'll be without that oversized joint!"
