In the upcoming Peacock comedy, 'Mr. Throwback,' Adam Pally shines as Danny Grossman, a struggling memorabilia dealer seeking redemption through a reunion with his sixth-grade basketball teammate - the NBA megastar, Steph Curry. Despite his illustrious career with the Golden State Warriors, Curry eagerly showcases his comedic talents in this trailer, released on Wednesday. This Universal Television mockumentary marks Curry's first scripted TV role and is set to premiere on August 8th.

In 'Mr. Throwback,' Danny Grossman, played by Adam Pally, embarks on a journey to regain his lost glory by reuniting with his childhood basketball hero, Curry, who portrays himself in the show. Curry aims to aid his middle school friend in finding redemption. "Let's make a documentary about it," he suggests in the trailer, leading to a joyful trip on Curry's private jet and the sharing of pre-game "placenta-ritas," a unique concoction of horse placenta.

The Saturday Night Live cast member, Ego Nwodim, portrays the director of this mockumentary-within-a-mockumentary, tasked with bringing Grossman back to the glory of his sixth-grade basketball days. However, the trailer hints at a deeper, perhaps more calculated, narrative. "People love a redemption story. But you know what they love more? A trainwreck," Nwodim muses as the on-court and off-court antics unfold.

'Mr. Throwback' is executive produced by Curry himself, alongside series creators and executive producers David Caspe, Matthew Libman, Daniel Libman, Erick Peyton, and Adam Pally. As Curry continues to establish himself as a Hollywood power player, he and his production company Unanimous Media, along with David Henrie's Cedar Hill, are developing the basketball-focused comedy feature 'Trick Shot.' The four-time NBA champion has also recently served as executive producer on the Netflix animated series 'Good Times.' Last year, he was the subject of the sports documentary 'Stephen Curry: Underrated,' which premiered on Apple TV+.
