Tom Holland embarks on a fresh chapter with Sony Pictures, as his nascent production company, in a recent move, seals a dynamic producing partnership with the esteemed studio. Sony unveiled on Thursday the formation of an alliance with Billy17, a venture co-founded by Holland alongside his brother Harry Holland and Will South. Kicking off the collaboration is "Burnt," a project nurtured by the Billy17 team, with Rodney Rothman scripting a potential star vehicle tailored for Holland. While the intricate plot remains under wraps, anticipation buzzes.
Billy17 is equally immersed in the task of bringing Graeme Simsion's novel to life through adaptation, "The Rosie Project," for TriStar Pictures, with Matt Tolmach producing alongside Michael Costigan from Jason Bateman's Aggregate Films. Furthermore, Billy17 is collaborating with Spider-Man producer Amy Pascal on bringing Teddy Wayne's novel, "The Winner," to life, with Holland being considered for a leading role.
"I've enjoyed an extraordinarily fulfilling and triumphant partnership with Sony Pictures for nearly a decade, making them the ideal companion to embark on this production company venture," Holland expressed in a statement. "Harboring the ambition to take this leap for quite some time, we're thrilled to introduce entertaining and replayable cinematic gems to the silver screen. This marks our aspiration, commencing with 'Burnt,' an idea that's been brewing in our minds for years. Having Rodney on board to craft our most ambitious endeavor is nothing short of incredible. We're diving into the deep end with immense excitement, eagerly anticipating what lies ahead."
Sony Pictures' chief, Tom Rothman, added, "Tom, Harry, and Will are a fount of innovative ideas, fueled by an unwavering passion to bring them to life. Sony is incredibly fortunate to extend our already thriving relationship with Tom, and our ongoing work on shared franchises, into a new era that leverages the trio's producing prowess—a magnificent complement to Tom's exceptional acting talents. We're vigorously pursuing these fresh projects, with more undoubtedly on the horizon."
This deal builds on Holland's star turn in Sony's 2022 video game adaptation "Uncharted," which surpassed the $400 million mark at the global box office. Holland and Sony have also collaborated on director Jon Watts' "Spider-Man" trilogy, with the latest installment, "Spider-Man: No Way Home" (2021), grossing $1.9 billion worldwide, becoming the studio's highest-grossing title.
Billy17 is represented by WME and Sloane Offer, while Holland is represented by WME, Shelter PR, and Sloane Offer.
