On Wednesday, August 14th, Tyler, The Creator graced the latest episode of "Mavericks" with a visit to Maverick Carter, where the multifaceted artist-producer delved into the depths of his childhood, career journey, and beyond. The conversation inevitably steered towards Eminem, prompting Tyler to revisit his past remarks concerning the Detroit rap icon's musical endeavors.

Tyler candidly acknowledged his once-critical stance, recalling how he had labeled Eminem's collaboration with Beyoncé, "Walk on Water," as "horrible" and severely scrutinized the 2010 album, 'Recovery.' Little did he know, his words would ignite a response from the Shady Records mogul, who retaliated in the provocative track "Fall" from the Kamikaze album.

"I stumbled upon this Netflix series, 'Painkiller,' and it hit me hard," Tyler confessed to Carter. "Putting myself in Eminem's shoes, imagining how hurtful it must've been for him to hear me publicly disparage his work, especially considering his triumphant journey away from drugs and into sobriety. It dawned on me that I might've come across as an attacker, whereas all I meant was, 'This music isn't my cup of tea.' He was embarking on a new chapter, and I unintentionally cast a shadow on that. It feels wrong."

He continued, "I'm filled with regret for those words, for my narrow-minded perspective back then. The truth is, I admire Eminem deeply. He's the one who ignited my passion for rhyming, taught me how to weave words into melodies, and how to craft captivating narratives. After watching that documentary, I gained a newfound appreciation. Realizing 'Recovery' marked a significant milestone in his life, I felt terrible for dismissing it so lightly. Back then, I was just a naive kid craving the sounds of 'Same Song & Dance,' reminiscing about 'The Eminem Show.' But he's evolved, and I should've recognized that. If fate ever brings us face to face, I'd want to apologize personally, to express my gratitude and acknowledge the impact he's had on me."
