9-1-1 – Season 8 Episode 7 1

Elsewhere, Buck finds solace in the calming world of baking, a welcome distraction from the urge to reach out to Tommy since their heart-wrenching breakup. When Maddie and Chimney drop by, they gently nudge Buck towards dipping his toes back into the dating pool. Yet, Buck stands at the crossroads, unsure which ocean to plunge into. Amidst their conversation, Buck notices a subtle shift in Maddie's demeanor and deduces that she's expecting a bundle of joy. The couple confides in him, asking for his discretion. Like any supportive friend, Buck beams with joy for the soon-to-be parents.

The next day, the 118 is scrambled to the bustling set of "Hotshots," where an actor perilously gets wedged in an aerial ladder. Once they safely extricate the trembling thespian, Bobby queries Gerrard about the lapse in judgment. Gerrard confesses he's struggling to gain Brad's trust and approval.

The subsequent day, Athena finds herself paired with a young, enthusiastic rookie named Sparks by Elaine. Athena isn't thrilled, sensing that Elaine has assigned her a protégé more than a partner. Sparks, eager to impress, tries every trick in the book to win Athena over. However, Athena remains skeptical, sensing that Sparks' motivation stems from a love for power rather than a pursuit of justice. Her instincts whisper that Sparks' heart isn't in the right place. She confides in Hen about her concerns, mixing her fears of aging with her doubts about Sparks. Hen wisely counsels her to embrace the wisdom that comes with time and trust her instincts implicitly.

At the bustling fire station, Eddie and Hen confiscated Buck's phone, determined to thwart his relentless texting spree to Tommy. Just then, the chief made an unexpected visit to confer with Bobby. Placed in a precarious position, the chief sought Bobby's aid in swaying Gerrard to victory over Brad. The financiers behind the Hotshot production lavishly donated to the fire department, further complicating matters.

Brad was desperate to reclaim Bobby's loyalty while Gerrard trembled on the brink of losing his job. Bobby, out of curiosity, wandered onto the set, where Gerrard wept and pleaded, urging Bobby to salvage his employment by dining with Brad and persuading him to reconsider Gerrard's fate. During this dinner, Brad behaved like a pampered child, taking shots at the waitress, prompting Bobby to force an apology out of him, threatening to teach him a lesson otherwise. This chaotic scene was captured on camera and swiftly went viral.

Elsewhere, Athena and Sparks collaborated closely, with Sparks diving into the murky depths of the dark web to uncover a clue leading to Flashmob, who was revealed to be Caleb, an employee of a cargo delivery firm. When Caleb spotted the police, he hastily leaped into a car and sped away. Sparks, undeterred, leapt onto the hood of the fleeing truck, initiating a thrilling car chase. Athena called for reinforcement, but Sparks ignored her advice to disembark when the vehicle slowed, instead maneuvering himself into the driver's seat and apprehending Flashmob with remarkable prowess. Though his bravery was commendable, Athena was far from pleased. She reported to Elaine that Sparks was unpredictable and that she no longer wished to oversee him. Sparks accused her of bias stemming from her age and fear of being overshadowed. Athena stood her ground, insisting that while Sparks might look impressive on paper, his motivations were questionable.

Days later, Sparks and his new partner confronted a woman who steadfastly refused to roll down her window and present her license, despite her child sitting in the backseat. Sparks and his partner initially attempted to reason with her, but she called 9-1-1, prompting Athena to rush to the scene as backup. The woman's defiance persisted, and Sparks lost his composure. He shattered her window and, in a moment of panic, grabbed his gun mistaking it for a taser, accidentally discharging it and wounding the woman. Athena swiftly administered first aid to the injured woman.

Following the untoward event, Elaine offered a heartfelt apology to Athena for having disregarded her counsel. Yet, Athena, undeterred, insisted on a fresh trainee and expressed her readiness to impart her vast experience to the upcoming generation of law enforcers. As the episode drew to a close, Brad made his way to the fire station to report. To his delight, the chief consented to let him shadow Bobby, aiming to capture an authentic portrayal for his show. However, Bobby's expression soured upon hearing this unforeseen news.
