Episode 7 of A Killer Paradox kicks off with an intriguing twist as Chon, armed with a gun loaded with a blank cartridge, manages to wound one of his assailants in a daring move. The others quickly join the fray, but Chon's prowess in combat shines through, allowing him to fend off all his attackers. With the last standing enemy forced to call his boss and confess their failure in capturing Chon, the scene sets the tone for the episode.
A poignant flashback then unfolds, revealing Yong-jae's inquisitive nature as he asks Nan-gam about the circumstances that led him to become a cop. Nan-gam responds with a somber tone, explaining that his father was also a policeman and that he chose this path to avoid the stigma of being looked down upon. However, his father's treatment of Nan-gam was anything but kind, and it was only when Nan-gam stopped conforming to his father's expectations that he finally gained some peace.
Switching back to the present, Nan-gam is seen escorting Rex to a shelter, where an aggression test awaits to determine Rex's fate. Later, Nan-gam, the newly appointed Captain Moon Myeong-jun, and their fellow officers scrutinize security footage from a dilapidated cafe. Their investigation uncovers the presence of Tang, Bin, and men affiliated with Buyeon Construction, along with a glimpse of Chon.
With this new information, the police rush to the area where Chon was last spotted. Intriguingly, they discover that thugs from the construction company were also on the lookout for him. Unbeknownst to them, Chon is perched on a nearby rooftop, observing their every move.
Inside the room where Chon was staying, the police discover a chilling collection of confession notes. Meanwhile, Tang is hiding out, looking visibly exhausted. Roh Bin arrives to rescue him, suggesting they flee south. They hop into a hired car and speed away, purchasing a burner phone for anonymity. Tang even takes a detour to visit his parents' home, where his mother has been frequenting morning services at the church, praying fervently for her son's wellbeing.
Elsewhere, Chon confronts the Buyeon Construction manager, demanding to know the whereabouts of Chairman Hyung. Nan-gam, recognizing Chon's intentions, persuades his colleagues to rush to the chairman's location immediately, the tension in the air is palpable as the stakes continue to rise.
Yet, Chon has beaten them to the punch. The chairman is now incapacitated, tied up and helpless, while the young woman accompanying him dials the security team, instructing them to isolate the chairman for an hour. Chon subsequently administers a potion to the girl, rendering her unconscious. A monologue from Chon unfolds, detailing the chairman's myriad shortcomings—his illicit connections and deep-rooted corruption. Numerous lives have been lost due to the chairman's construction projects. Before Chon can coerce the chairman into drafting a confession, Nan-gam storms in. Cho jabs a sharp screw into the chairman's artery, while Nan-gam trains his gun on him. Chon acknowledges Nan-gam, revealing that he once worked with Nan-gam's father and is, in fact, the culprit behind his father's coma. Their paths crossed long ago when Nan-gam was just a child. Chon mocks Nan-gam, who finds himself unable to pull the trigger. Abruptly, Chon extracts the screw, prompting a frenzy of individuals rushing to save the chairman. Other officers intervene, preventing Nan-gam from shooting Chon and instead apprehending him. Myeong-jun later informs Nan-gam that this case will garner immense publicity. As a gesture of appreciation, he arranges for Nan-gam's father to be transferred to the police hospital.
Roh Bin and Tang are slumbering in their car, with Bin confiding in Tang about a harrowing past. A burglar broke into his home, brutally murdering his parents. He realized that to uphold justice, he needed power—a power he lacked. Thus, he sought out individuals like Tang. En route to the precinct, Chon feigns discomfort, complaining about the handcuffs being overly tight. When a guard loosens them, he seizes the moment to launch an attack. The vehicle flips over in the midst of the commotion, yet Chon manages to slip away.
Meanwhile, the chairman's funeral proceeds amidst this turmoil. An assemblyman corners Myeong-jun, urging the captain to make an arrest without delay. Simultaneously, Nan-gam attends the solemn rites for his fallen comrade, killed by Chon's hands.
As Tang and Bin enjoyed their meal, the startling news of Chon's escape shattered the peace, accompanied by the astonishing revelation that Tang and Bin were somehow implicated as accomplices. Tang's circle of friends and family were left reeling in disbelief upon witnessing the broadcast. Tang himself was beset with frustration over the sudden twist of fate. In the midst of this chaos, Bin conceived a bold new strategy—they would flee the country clandestinely, hitchhiking on a ship as stowaways. They subsequently contacted one of Bin's associates, who expertly arranged their escape.
Meanwhile, Chon was in hiding, nursing a hand that appeared more gravely injured than ever. Nan-gam, at home, received a jarring phone call concerning his father. He learned that his mother had signed a paper authorizing the hospital to withhold resuscitation efforts. The life-or-death decision now rested solely on Nan-gam's shoulders. With steadfast resolve, he instructed the nurse to continue treatment and keep his father alive.
Chon devised a clever ploy to mislead the police by discarding his phone into a random truck. He then located Bin's dentist and used the dentist's phone to reach Bin, proposing a meeting since they were all tied together by their guilt. Bin, however, kept the call from Chon a secret from Tang. Instead, he gave Tang directions to a different destination, fabricating a tale about the need to travel separately for safety. While Bin searched for bus routes, Tang, acting suspiciously, installed a location tracker on his phone. Tang arrived at the docks, where his contact handed him a new passport. Inside his bag, he discovered a letter from Bin.
Bin, however, sought out Chon and revealed that he knew Chon's whereabouts. Nan-gam was hesitant to collaborate with Bin. As he pondered whether to ally with Bin, Chon unexpectedly appeared at the hospital where Nan-gam's father was being treated. He handed a batch of pills to Nan-gam's mother, causing her to faint. Shortly after, Nan-gam received a call that left him utterly stunned.
Elsewhere, Rex, mistaking a girl for Yeo-ok, launched into a sudden attack, unaware of his mistake.
