Published: Jun 19 2024

Episode 6 of Ahsoka opens with a captivating sight: star whales leaping gracefully through hyperspace, their majestic forms a stark contrast to the void they traverse. Ahsoka and Huyang find themselves amidst this spectacle, engaged in a poignant discussion about Sabine's fate. Ahsoka berates herself for Sabine's misguided decision, while Huyang ponders whether it was truly her only option.

As if summoned by their conversation, Sabine awakes to find herself imprisoned within a stark holding cell. Baylan appears, seeing this as an opportunity for Sabine to reflect on her choices. When she inquiries about Ezra, his smug grin and hasty departure offer no solace. Yet, deep down, he remains steadfast in his promise to her.

The hyperspace ring arrives at its intended destination: a mysterious planet called Peridea. This hidden world holds a significant secret - it is the ancient home of Morgan's ancestors, the Dathomiri. Moreover, it marks the final resting place for the star whales, who journey here to spend their final moments. The planet is thus a graveyard, its rings adorned with the bones of these celestial creatures.

Sabine is escorted to the planet's surface by Baylan, Morgan, and Shin. Their journey ends at a towering structure, its roof adorned with a shrine. Three women clad in crimson robes greet Morgan and his companions. They are the Great Mother and her witches, newly introduced to the Star Wars universe. Their gaze falls upon Sabine, and they sense a "taint of Jedi" about her, deeming her a potential threat. They decide to isolate her in solitude, preferring caution over brute force.

Baylan harbors a foreboding about this planet, yet he offers insights into the repeating cycle of the Jedi Temple's destruction and the rise and fall of empires. He is determined to break this cycle and believes that Thrawn may hold the key to ending it once and for all.

In a blink of an eye, a menacing Star Destroyer appears, hovering perilously close to the sacred shrine. The colossal vessel gracefully descends onto the tower, and Thrawn strides forward, flanked by a formidable contingent of stormtroopers. He mentions Sabine, branding her as a "loose thread," yet harboring a belief that she will become "of great use" to them.

Thrawn addresses Sabine, vowing to uphold his agreement. However, once his starship departs, she will be left stranded on this desolate planet. Sabine remains unfazed, cracking wise jokes before being reunited with her weapons and granted passage to the outside world. As she ventures into the unforgiving wilderness, Baylan Skroll decides to follow, intent on eliminating her once she reunites with Ezra.

Sabine finds herself under attack by a group of local bandits, but she quickly dispatches them with her lightsaber. Unfortunately, the skirmish destroys her radio, while Baylan and Shin observe from afar. Her trusty steed, Howler, leads her to a secluded water hole, where she encounters a mysterious creature known as a Noti. The creature recognizes her insignia and is adorned with a similar one around its neck, raising the question of whether these creatures know Ezra. Sabine is guided deeper into the wilderness, ultimately arriving at their village, hinting at a deeper connection.

Baylan senses something amiss as he notices a horde of bandits keeping a close watch. Meanwhile, Sabine finally arrives at the village of the Nori, where she is reunited with Ezra. Elsewhere, Thrawn sets his sights on uncovering every detail about Ahsoka, believing she is on her way. He tasks Morgan with delving into her past, while simultaneously plotting to harness the dark magick of the Great Mothers.
