Anthracite – Season 1 Episode 4 1

Gio, meanwhile, experiences a terrifying dream, finding herself trapped in a lab with a man resembling Mani. She awakens with a start, finding herself alone in the car, her heart pounding. Panic sets in as she spots Ida in the snow, frantically searching for the lost tent. Romeo and Jaro rush to their aid, and Gio heads to Detraz's only to find her gone and Eddy tied up.

At the hospital, Ida, shaken to her core, vows to renew Solal's chemo treatment if he manages to pull through. Jaro offers her solace, updating her on their investigation. He suspects that his mother was involved in Roxane's death, a theory that Ida finds hard to swallow. She promises they will uncover the truth together. Jaro, curious about her illness, learns that Ida has leukemia but they've been unable to find a compatible donor.

Elsewhere, Hari visits Romeo following the Solal incident. The two share a moment of nostalgia as they dance, eventually finding comfort in each other's arms. Meanwhile, Jaro visits his mother's grave, only to stumble upon a disturbing sight - a statue of the Black Virgin, its surface scratched with warnings for Enola to stay away.

Meanwhile, Gio cunningly exploited Erwan's credentials to unearth information about Mani. She revealed to her husband that Denis might have assisted him in staging his own death. She speculated that he could be secretly working at Arcacia, and they were meticulously orchestrating these murders to pin the blame on the cult. However, Erwan dismissed her claims as mere conjecture, insisting that there was no concrete evidence to support them. This sparked a heated argument, causing a commotion.

The next day, Gio's son, Titouan, expressed his concern that their marriage might be on the rocks. She assured him that everything would be fine, kissing him goodbye as she dropped him off at school. Afterwards, she set out to search for her mother and stumbled upon photos of Hari on her desk. Suddenly, Carmela appeared, revealing that Hari was a traitor working for Arcacia, a shadowy organization that refused to disclose their activities in the mines.

At Romeo's hideout, Hari begged to be allowed to flee. He confessed that he despised the place, but before he could elaborate, a group of protesters appeared and brutally attacked both him and Romeo. Gio arrived just in time but insisted on having a private conversation with Hari.

Meanwhile, within the asylum, Caleb launched a violent attack on a nurse, declaring his intention to eliminate a young boy and girl. Back at home, Jaro rummaged through Juliette's belongings in search of clues about Enola. His aunt and uncle speculated that the pushy woman who had come looking for Juliette after she left for Paris could be Enola herself. Suddenly, Jaro caught a glimpse of Caleb, but he had vanished when Aunt Marie checked.

The students embarked on a trip to the mines, and Carmela was visibly distracted as Romeo called to inquire about their targeting of Hari. She apologized for the rough treatment he had received. Titouan noticed someone on the other side of the mine and started to follow him, but Carmela quickly intervened to stop him. Hari, on the other hand, confided in Gio that Arcacia's mysterious founder, Bachelard, had discovered bacteria in anthracite that held the potential to cure difficult illnesses with remarkable ease.

Eagerly anticipating Hari's involvement, they pressed their offer, but he initially declined. However, his curiosity got the better of him, and he ultimately agreed to assist, hoping to unearth the truth behind Elias' mangled limbs and the region's miscarriages. They were attempting to cultivate bacteria suitable for public consumption, but their efforts had repeatedly failed, leading to the unfortunate demise of the sheep. With millions invested, Arcacia kept these failures shrouded in secrecy.

Gio, determined to delve deeper into the mysteries surrounding Bachelard, sought Hari's assistance. Hari made his way to Arcacia, covertly leaving one of the rear doors ajar. He then staged a commotion, drawing all the guards away from their posts. With Bachelard alone and vulnerable, Gio sneaked in, confronting him head-on. He revealed his true identity as Mani and his deep-seated hatred for the cult. Gio's curiosity was piqued by Caleb's insistence that something powerful lurked within the mines, and his denial of murdering Emma.

Their conversation was abruptly interrupted when the bloodied miners returned to the base, their faces etched with horror.

Meanwhile, at the hospital, Ida delved into her father's computer, uncovering his secretive attempts to find a compatible donor for her by testing a local. She stumbled upon a cassette tape and, with the help of a kindly old janitor who let her use his VHS player, she learned the shocking truth. The tape revealed that Caleb had raped Juliette, who gave birth to a girl during the interview. Solal assisted her in the delivery, but Juliette refused to see her child.

Elsewhere, Jaro enlisted Romeo's help to verify Caleb's presence at the asylum. When no one responded to their inquiries, alarm bells rang in their minds. As they arrived, chaos reigned, with the nurse informing them of Caleb's escape. Jaro attempted to warn Ida, but she was in a daze, realizing that Solal had tested Caleb, her biological father, to see if he was a compatible match for her. Suddenly, Ida saw Caleb enter Solal's room. He locked the door behind him and, as Ida screamed, he suffocated Solal.

At the asylum, the head nurse discovered a follower lurking in her office. The follower insisted that the brother and sister must be eliminated, claiming to have been a believer but disappointed by Caleb's failures. The nurse, however, swiftly ended the follower's life, vowing to carry their message of hope to the conclusion of Anthracite Episode 4.
