Episode 7 of Asura unfolds in the tranquil yet tense atmosphere of a hospital, where Jinnai lies comatose. His sisters make a heartfelt visit, pooling their resources to alleviate the financial burden on Sakiko, who is grappling with Jinnai's hospitalization. Despite their gesture, Sakiko is increasingly overwhelmed. Jinnai's injury and subsequent coma weigh heavily on her, exacerbated by his mother's accusations that Sakiko pushed him to continue boxing, disregarding his health for her own comfort in a life of luxury.
Sakiko has always maintained a false bravado, particularly in front of her sisters, as a way to defy their initial skepticism about Jinnai. Yet, amidst the mental strain, mounting hospital bills, and relentless worry for Jinnai, she finds herself isolated and unable to confide in them. One fateful night, she finds solace in the arms of a stranger, an encounter that takes a sinister turn when he discovers her identity and begins to blackmail her, demanding a million yen in hush money.
Cornered and desperate, Sakiko's resolve finally cracks, leading her to confide in Takiko, her sister who has been a source of rivalry and tension throughout the series. Despite their complex history, Takiko stands by Sakiko, confronting the blackmailer at the hospital. She lambasts him for exploiting a vulnerable woman drowning in debt, marking a significant shift in their relationship.
Sakiko and Jinnai's mother-in-law soldier on, tirelessly caring for Jinnai as he remains in a coma for months. To ease the financial strain, they transfer him to a general ward. One hopeful day, they notice a flicker of life—Jinnai's toes move, signaling the beginning of his recovery.
Elsewhere, Kotaro's romantic life takes a tumultuous turn. After Fuji's demise, Kotaro and his mistress sever ties, assuming she had married another. Yet, Tomoko's son's persistent calls rekindle their clandestine meetings at a restaurant, where Kotaro mentors the boy with his homework and provides companionship. During one such meeting, Kotaro learns that Tomoko remains unmarried.
Takiko stumbles upon Kotaro's secret meetings with the boy and confronts him, prompting Kotaro to reconsider his relationship with Shoji. However, the bond he shares with Shoji runs deep, and despite his intentions to distance himself, Shoji's persistent calls pull him back. The episode concludes with uncertainty regarding Kotaro's romantic entanglements—whether he ended things with Tomoko or maintained contact through Shoji remains unresolved.
What happens to Tsunako?
Makiko receives a phone call one night informing her that Tsunako tried to commit love suicide. Makiko rushes over and visits Tsunako at the hospital. However, Tsunako was not trying to commit suicide; it was just a gas leak at the house and her married boyfriend was in the house. Takao and Makiko are concerned about Tsunako’s mental health and try to convince her to let her son move and stay with her after his marriage.
Tsunako holds that she is not too old and can still take care of herself. Even though Tsunako holds that she did not try to kill herself and her boyfriend, it becomes unclear later when Makiko asks her seriously, and all she does is smile. Regarding her relationship with her boyfriend, he runs from the hospital and back to his wife after the incident, and they are not seen together again. Makiko asks Tsunako how she felt when she woke up at the hospital and her boyfriend was not by her side. Tsunako says that all she wants is to spend time with her family, which she does happily for the rest of the episode.
What happens to Takiko?
Takiko and Katsumata’s relationship is the most heartwarming to watch in the final episode. Unlike Makiko, who hides her feelings, and Takao, who does not show much concern for Makiko, Katsumata is patient, and together they learn to open up and depend on each other. Katsumata supports Takiko when she struggles with Jinnai’s accident.
She takes her to the hospital to meet Sakiko and stands with her when she confronts the bully. Katsumata lets her air out her frustrations with her father after she finds out that he is still in contact with the mistress and the child. In the end, Takiko builds a gentle, loving family with Katsumata and they move into Kotaro’s house to stay with the ageing father and are expecting their firstborn.
Throughout the narrative arc of the series, Makiko finds herself consumed by the haunting possibility of Takao's infidelity. Her suspicions frequently gravitate towards Akagi, Takao's secretary, whom she believes could be the other woman. However, these suspicions are momentarily deflected when Akagi personally visits Makiko at her home to share the joyous news of her impending marriage and seeks Makiko's assistance in planning the wedding festivities. Akagi solemnly assures Makiko of her innocence, professing ignorance about any affair Takao might be having. Despite Akagi's assurances, Makiko harbors a lingering doubt, convinced that Akagi's visit was merely a calculated attempt to curry favor and divert suspicion away from her true intentions.
Makiko diligently conceals her tumultuous emotions, unaware of the profound impact they are having on her family, particularly their daughter Yoko. A pivotal moment arises when Makiko is summoned to the local bookstore to retrieve Yoko, who had attempted to steal a book. In a heartfelt conversation, Yoko urges her mother to seek understanding and embrace vulnerability.
Moved by her daughter's sincerity, Makiko resolves to confront Takao about the allegations of infidelity the night following Akagi's visit. Takao steadfastly denies having any mistress, but Makiko remains unconvinced, her doubts remaining as resilient as ever.
As the final episode unfolds, the narrative culminates in Akagi's wedding ceremony. Makiko and Takao attend the festive occasion, their presence a testament to social obligation despite their troubled relationship. As Akagi and her spouse light a candle, symbolizing their enduring love, Makiko leans in to whisper to Takao, her voice tinged with disbelief, that his protestations of fidelity ring hollow in her ears.
