Upon their arrival at the island, Aang, Sokka, and Katara are unexpectedly apprehended by a formidable group of non-benders known as the Kyoshi Warriors. Among them is a young woman named Suki, who pleads with her mother, Yukari - the island's leader - to grant them a 48-hour stay. The encounter ignites a spark of romantic tension between Suki and Sokka.

The encounter between Zuko and Iroh with Commander Zhao proved to be anything but amicable. Zhao's suspicions hovered heavily over them, and he managed to unearth a crucial clue regarding the Avatar's whereabouts. Meanwhile, Aang discovered a remarkable ability - the capacity to tap into the wisdom and power of the Avatars who preceded him.

Deep in meditation, the familiar glow returned, and he was mentored by none other than Avatar Kyoshi herself. She revealed to him that the glow was the Avatar state, a portal that allowed him to harness and channel the collective strength and knowledge of all past Avatars. However, she cautioned him that to fully wield this power, he must undergo rigorous training and master the bending of all four elements.

As Aang remained immersed in the Avatar state, Commander Zhao and his men arrived, intent on searching the town for an outsider. Suddenly, the Kyoshi warriors launched a surprise attack. Zuko and Iroh, meanwhile, stumbled upon Aang at Kyoshi's shrine. In a fierce battle, Zuko emerged victorious against Katara, but Aang, harnessing the might of Avatar Kyoshi, intervened in a blaze of glory. He transformed into a striking image of Kyoshi herself, sending the Fire Nation soldiers fleeing in panic.

With a renewed sense of purpose and responsibility, Aang bid farewell to Kyoshi Island. His journey now led him to the Northern Water Tribe, where he hoped to rescue them from a mysterious peril that had revealed itself in his meditation. In a tender moment, Suki and Sokka shared a kiss, and she presented him with a steel folding fan, a symbol of the Kyoshi warriors' prowess. Sokka was now resolved to accompany Aang, Katara, Appa, and Momo on their perilous adventure.

Despite their differences, Commander Zhao insisted on collaborating with Zuko and Iroh to capture the Avatar. In a calculated move, Zhao penned a letter, informing Fire Lord Ozai of the Avatar's return, setting the stage for an even more intense confrontation in the future.
