As Donny braces himself to report Martha to the police, a traumatic memory resurfaces from years ago, involving a man named Darrien. It was during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, where Donny, a budding comedian, chancely encountered Darrien, a renowned television writer who had collaborated with Donny's comedic idols. Darrien took him under his wing, offering guidance and encouragement to pursue his dream in London. But soon after, Darrien abruptly vanished from Donny's life, leaving him bewildered.
Determined to follow his mentor's advice, Donny relocated to London and enrolled in drama school. There, he met Keeley and soon moved in with her. Then, unexpectedly, Darrien reappeared, inviting Donny to collaborate on a television pilot. Under Darrien's influence, Donny began experimenting with drugs, unaware that he was being groomed for something sinister.
Weekends turned into drug-fueled "working sessions" at Darrien's apartment, where Donny would black out and wake up to the realization that he had been sexually assaulted by his once-mentor. The assaults escalated, culminating in a horrific rape while Donny was under the influence of LSD and GHB.
Finally, Donny mustered the courage to leave Darrien, but the fallout destroyed his relationship with Keeley. He realized he was attracted to men, but the shame and association with his assault led him into a cycle of unsafe sex with various partners.
Now, as he stands before the police, Donny's guilt over never reporting Darrien's assaults clouds his judgment. Unable to overcome his shame and trauma, he fails to provide an accurate account of Martha's stalking behavior, leaving the police without a clear picture of the truth.
