Bad Sisters – Season 1 Episode 1 1

Becka, a tad tardy to the funeral proceedings, arrives with a tale of unintended chaos, having inadvertently caused a motorcycle mishap on her way. Her tears, unbidden, spill forth during the service for JP, only to be gently silenced by Bibi's nudge, a whispered reminder that their facade of sorrow is no longer necessary.

Meanwhile, Matt, the motorcycle rider whose journey Becka inadvertently hindered, finds himself at Claffin and Sons Insurance, where his brother Tom presides over the family business, a legacy from their departed father. Tom's directive is clear: they must devise every strategy to evade paying Grace a penny of John Paul's insurance claim.

Flashing back six months, a stark contrast emerges. John Paul, vibrant and alive, shares a Christmas feast with the Garvey sisters, his presence casting a shadow over the festivities. His racist quips, insensitive jabs at Eva's childlessness, and the dampening of Becka's excitement over her new massage venture, leave an indelible mark of resentment among the sisters.

Yet, amidst this hostility, Grace stands as a lone advocate for her husband, pleading with her sisters to allow her happiness with the man she loves. But as John Paul's possessive grip tightens, stealing Grace from her annual sisterly escapades, a transformation becomes evident. Eva observes a quiet, shrinking Grace, a victim of John Paul's influence.

In jest, yet tinged with sincerity, the sisters muse about John Paul's demise, each concocting creative fantasies of how they might rid themselves of him. The air crackles with tension, a simmering resentment that threatens to boil over into something far more sinister.

Returning to the present moment, bouquets of flowers rained down upon John Paul's coffin, symbolizing the end of an era. "It's finally over," Eva murmured solemnly.

Matt and Tom made their way to the somber funeral reception, Tom harboring a secret motive to uncover any shred of evidence that could nullify John Paul's insurance policy. Matt, however, admonished him, believing their father incapable of such insensitivity. "How can you be so certain of what he would have done?" Tom retorted, his voice sharp with frustration. Matt, defeated, walked away.

Undaunted, Tom pressed on with his investigation, grilling several of the Garvey sisters at the gathering and single-mindedly quizzing Grace about her whereabouts the fateful night her husband passed. Grace, her voice steady, claimed she had been with her sisters.

Meanwhile, fate intervened as Matt stumbled upon Becka in a dimly lit bar. Their eyes met with instant recognition, recalling the incident where she had inadvertently caused his car accident. Unaware of her Garvey connection, and likewise, her ignorance of his prying nature as an insurance investigator, they exchanged numbers amidst the haze of the evening.

Later, in a moment of honesty, Tom confessed to Matt the dire financial straits their company faced. Should they be compelled to compensate Grace, they would be left with nothing.

Grace, troubled by Tom's probing questions, appeared at Eva's doorstep, confessing to an impulsive act of deception. She had lied, telling him she was with her sisters the night John Paul died, for his inquiries had made her uncomfortable. Eva reassured Grace of their unwavering support, promising to stand by her side.

As Grace departed, she summoned the other sisters to converge. Amidst their shared anxiety over potential police involvement and the secret they held dear, they vowed to uphold a united front for Grace's sake. Yet, they also realized the dire need to keep Grace in the dark about their actions.

"Stay calm and resolute," Eva urged, her voice firm with resolve. "We'll watch each other's backs and weather this storm together."
