"Boy Swallows Universe" chronicles the journey of Eli and the multitude of challenges his family confronts within a territory notorious for its prevalence of drugs and violence. Eli's mother, Frankie, a former addict who has maintained sobriety for years, is now married to Lyle Orlik, a former drug dealer turned new leaf. Eli's brother, Gus, remains an enigmatic figure, his silence a mystery wrapped in reserve.
Life had seemed somewhat serene for Eli's family until Ivan and his cronies descended upon their doorstep like a storm, abducting Lyle and precipitating a chain of calamities. Frankie found herself ensnared by the law's grip, while Slim succumbed to a fatal heart attack. Yet, amidst the turmoil, hope sprang anew as Frankie was released and reunited with Robert and their sons. However, Eli's saga was far from conclusion, its narrative continuing in episode 7, titled "Boy Meets End."
A glimmer of dawn pierced through the clouds for Eli and his kin. Robert and Frankie, their differences bridged, embarked on a path of reconciliation. Robert, now freed from the shackles of alcoholism, found solace in a fresh start. Bermuda ensured that Kallas ceased posing a threat to Frankie. Robert, despite his acrophobia, ventured into a new chapter by selling his collection of novels to a bookstore proprietor who also offered him a part-time job minding the shop in Dara, just a stone's throw from his abode.
Eli, too, carved a niche for himself at the newspaper agency with an insightful piece on Alex Bermuda, highlighting his vow to steer his life towards a more upright path as a free man. Alex, though aspiring to be a crime assistant reporter, settled contentedly for a lesser role. As for Gus, he and Shelly garnered acclaim for their philanthropic endeavors, raising funds for disabled schoolchildren. Recognized as Queensland's champions, they were slated to receive an award from Tytus Broz. Eli longed to interview Tytus, yet the editor denied his request, urging him to pursue other pressing tales. But what prompted Eli's eagerness to converse with Tytus Broz?
Eli and Caitlyn harbored suspicions that Tytus Broz was intricately tangled in the town's drug underworld. Broz had once been in cahoots with Bich Dang, a notorious drug lord. Further fueling their suspicions, Broz employed an array of ex-convicts and current criminals in his factory, cloaking it as a benevolent endeavor to better their lives.
Moreover, there is compelling evidence suggesting that Broz was funneling money into an offshore account controlled by Ivan Kroll. What if Broz is merely using his prosthetics enterprise and benevolent persona as a decoy for something far more nefarious? When probed, Mr. Leary, a former employee of Broz, confides in Caitlyn and Eli, revealing that Broz poses a peril far surpassing illegal narcotics.
Upon discovering Eli's investigation, Broz and Ivan embark on a mission to tidy up any loose ends. The first casualty is Detective Tim Cotton, who mysteriously vanishes. As for Eli, he is summoned for a one-on-one interview with Tytus Broz. During their conversation, Broz subtly implies that if Eli persists in his inquiry, he might suffer a fate similar to her stepfather's.
Unbeknownst to them, Ivan is en route to eliminate them on Broz's behalf, Caitlyn and Eli decide to infiltrate his warehouse after everyone has departed. Inside, they uncover a hidden trapdoor leading to a laboratory brimming with eerie skeletons and various animals. It seems that Broz is utilizing this lab for some sort of experiments. Upon exploring further, Eli and Caitlyn realize with a chill that Broz is actually farming human limbs in this clandestine facility. Eli also stumbles upon Lyle's dismembered head encased in one of the glass containers. Ivan soon arrives at the laboratory, intent on their destruction, but Eli and Caitlyn narrowly escape.
Despite the danger, Eli and Caitlyn make a daring dash to the award ceremony, where they expose Broz's true nature by showcasing Lyle's head, accusing him of murder, and subsequently leading to his arrest. Regrettably, Ivan catches up with them, stabbing both Eli and Robert. In a desperate bid for survival, Eli scales the clock tower, with Ivan hot on his trail. This harrowing scene was precisely what Gus foresaw in his visions, enabling him to anticipate their whereabouts.
Ivan attempts to permanently silence Eli, but Gus intervenes heroically, pushing Ivan to his demise. Did Eli survive this harrowing ordeal? Indeed, he did. By the narrative's conclusion, Eli awakens in a hospital bed, anticipating a full recovery. Likewise, Robert is also rescued and rushed to the hospital before succumbing to his wounds.
