Leo arrives at the hospital with June's son, both expressing deep concern for her well-being. However, her son, unaware of the gravity of the situation, takes a few snapshots of her injuries and posts them on social media. Initially, June is displeased with this act, but her mood brightens when a commenter labels her a "badass."

As June is discharged from the hospital, her resolve is firmer than ever. She sets out to track down Clive, determined to uncover his whereabouts. Hegarty takes charge of the investigation and decides to arrest Clive for Maria's murder. June pleads with him, revealing that Maria was the caller who claimed Errol's innocence and hinting at a potential connection to an older, unsolved case.

However, Hegarty ignores her pleas, and June returns to her car to find a racist slur spray-painted on its surface. This new indignity only fuels her determination to seek justice for Maria and expose the truth, no matter the cost.

Back at the office, June was instructed to shift her focus to other matters and distance herself from the case. However, she chose to disregard these directives and instead made her way to Doris Mathis' workplace to meet with Errol's mother. Doris, distrustful of the police, was immediately on the defensive, her skepticism evident in her comments about her "bulls**t radar." She promptly ordered June to leave, but before departing, Doris revealed that she suspected Hegarty of sending June. She accused him of lying and refusing to listen when she claimed that mistakes had been made in her son's case. Doris insisted that June convey to Hegarty that she was still standing strong and fighting for her son.

At the police station, June approached DC Chloe Summers with a favor in mind regarding the murder investigation. She expressed her desire to access the pathology report to scour for any similarities between the murders of Maria and Adelaide. Later, June met with Sonya, who informed her that she had spoken with Doris. Doris had revealed that Clive and Errol had attended school together, and she had a prior acquaintance with the family. June thanked Sonya profusely before she departed.

June's irritation with Leo escalated when he displayed ignorance towards the racism she encountered in her professional life. This came to light after she shared with him about the investigation into her internet searches while attending her son's football match. Suddenly, June received a call about a possible location for Clive, and she hastily excused herself from the match, her mind racing with newfound urgency.

She obediently follows the lead and ventures to the abode of a mysterious woman, harboring a hunch that she holds the key to Clive's secrets. The woman's behavior is odd and erratic, arousing June's suspicions. She promptly alerts the authorities, reporting a sighting of Clive at the location, her pulse racing as she awaits backup.

With reinforcements six minutes away, June's vigilance is tested as she spies signs of a potential altercation. She pounds furiously on the door, ignoring the mounting tension, and boldly traverses a neighbor's garden in pursuit of the truth. Scaling the fence with determination, she rushes into the now-ablaze house, her courage unwavering.

Amidst the flames, June valiantly rescues two women and halts Clive's escape, her actions heroic and decisive. Hegarty arrives on the scene of the fire, acknowledging June's bravery with a nod of approval.

At the station, Chloe slips the pathology report surreptitiously into Maria's hands. But before June can fully digest its contents, Hegarty interrupts, storming into her office. A tense meeting with Chambers reveals that Clive has confessed to Maria's murder and faces imprisonment. However, June is adamant about interrogating Clive regarding Adelaide's murder, her determination unshaken.

Hegarty queries June's newfound insights into Adelaide's murder, but he brushes aside her revelations, accusing her of unconscious bias due to Errol's race. Suspecting that June has accessed the pathology report, Hegarty probes her, but she denies any wrongdoing, insisting that as the first responder, she examined the victim's injuries herself.

Later, June and Leo engage in a lively football game with her son in the garden, their laughter echoing in the serene afternoon. Suddenly, June's phone rings, interrupting the peaceful moment. It's Chambers, informing her that she has been cleared to interrogate Clive. But the discussion of Adelaide's murder remains a forbidden topic, adding a layer of mystery and intrigue to the unfolding investigation.

In the tense atmosphere of the interview room, June confronts Clive, delving into the mystery surrounding Errol despite Chambers' stern orders. Hegarty and Chambers, lurking in the shadows, closely monitor the exchange. Suddenly, they intervene, insisting that there is no conclusive evidence linking Clive to Adelaide's murder, abruptly ending the interrogation.

June's frustration boils over as she vents her anger in the bathroom of the police station. Her outburst is interrupted by Jasmine, who whispers a rumor in her ear: Hegarty had manipulated the report on the two mysterious callers. Realizing she may have fallen into a trap, June vows to rise above the setback and persist in her investigation.

The episode comes to a cliffhanger as Sonya and June listen intently to the original phone call from the anonymous woman in the phone box. She warns them not to reveal that she heard the call, as it could destroy her life. A shocking revelation dawns: the woman who made the call might still be alive. Determined to find her and prove Errol's innocence, they set out on a new path, fueled by hope and justice.
