Criminal Record – Season 1 Episode 6 1

Lenker and Sonya convene to unpack the enigmatic confession of murder made by Errol. It's a baffling turn of events - within 48 hours of denying the charges, Errol had suddenly confessed. They delve into the details of his return to the crime scene and June's suspicions that something untoward had transpired during that critical period. Sonya uncovers a startling revelation - Errol was medically cleared, but the police inexplicably waited for three hours to interrogate him. She suspects that this delay was a calculated move to fabricate evidence and tighten the noose around Errol's neck.

June's investigation leads her to the lawyer she suspects of aiding Hegarty in Errol's case. However, the lawyer remains tight-lipped, refusing to divulge any information that could potentially undermine the case against Errol. The episode ends on a tense note, leaving the viewer eager to unravel the web of deceit and truth in the upcoming installments.

Hegarty unexpectedly arrives at Patrick's apartment and stumbles upon his daughter Lisa, immediately sensing that something is amiss. Their long-buried issues erupt into a fiery argument, ultimately leading to Hegarty's abrupt departure, leaving Lisa behind as he storms out and drives away. However, his anger soon turns to panic as he returns to retrieve her, finding only an empty apartment. Now, a frantic search for his missing daughter begins.

Back at his home, Hegarty's heart sinks as he realizes Lisa is still missing. In the midst of his panic, he forgets his scheduled meeting with ACC Claudia Mayhew regarding the shooting case. Instead, he roams the city streets, desperately scanning each face and corner for any sign of Lisa. Meanwhile, Patrick locates Lisa at his house and promptly informs Hegarty of her whereabouts.

Lenker delves into Claudia's past, uncovering her determination to reform the police department. It soon becomes apparent that she faces a relentless onslaught of abuse, which she suspects is led by Tony Gilfoyle. The next day, Lenker confronts Gilfoyle at his home, offering him a chance to confess his past misdeeds or face exposure. Gilfoyle, however, refuses to accept any blame and insults her before slamming the door in her face.

Determined to bring Gilfoyle to justice, Lenker meets with Claudia and pleads for her assistance. Meanwhile, Gilfoyle is frantically destroying any evidence that could implicate him. Doris, unaware of this chaos, confronts Gilfoyle about his involvement with Latisha. In a panic, he attempts to flee but accidentally injures her, leading to her hospitalization. This act of violence finally leads to Gilfoyle's arrest, bringing an end to his reign of terror.

Lenker assumes the reins of the investigation, leading her team in a meticulous search for traces of his criminal antics buried deep within his hard drive. But just when they seem to be inching closer to the truth, Hegarty strides in, attempting to seize control of the case. She confronts him head-on, challenging his claim that Gilfoyle operated "undercover" within neo-Nazi organizations.

Hegarty stubbornly refuses to shoulder any blame, only to discover that Claudia has bestowed the reins of this investigation to Lenker, meaning he will now be working under her command. With renewed determination, Lenker's team delves deeper into the beehive, unearthing a hidden CD.

The episode reaches its climax as Lenker watches the footage on the CD, revealing Hegarty interrogating Errol. It becomes evident that Hegarty was intentionally feeding Errol information, manipulating him into confessing to the murder. She summons Hegarty to witness the footage and confronts him about his questioning techniques and the mysterious damage to the footage.

Lenker stands her ground, refusing to be intimidated by Hegarty's denials. Faced with her unwavering resolve, Hegarty finally decides to come clean and reveal the truth.
