Echoes of the Past – Season 1 Episode 2 1

In the present day, Yassin meticulously prepares for his annual gala, extending an invitation to his newest client, Michael. Unknown to them, Yehia, leveraging a clever hack into Yassin's phone via a seemingly innocuous text about Mahfouz, eavesdrops on the conversations. Disguising himself as a workman, Fatla aids Yehia in infiltrating Yassin's mansion.

Outside, Sherif and Layla reconnect, revealing that Sherif has married and is now a father. Yassin's gala reaches its climax with his speech, but the evening takes a drastic turn when Yehia commandeers the projector. He projects Nadia's image and streams live footage of a factory being bombed, causing a stampede among the guests. Layla, stunned and disoriented, wanders inside and encounters Yehia installing a spy camera; however, her amnesia prevents her from recognizing him as he slips away.

Back at his lair, Yehia monitors Yassin's family as they grapple with uncertainty over his fate. Sherif remains untrusted, seen as Yehia's advocate. Meanwhile, Layla, who has forgotten Yehia and Nadia, yearns for answers that Mona refuses to provide. Instead, Mona invites her to live with her, but Layla persists in her quest for the truth, only to be halted by her mother, Sawsan.

On Yassin's end, he hires a hitman with an impeccable record. The hitman swiftly detects that Yassin's phone and CCTV systems have been compromised. Regarding the bombing, he suspects that Yehia has an accomplice within. His suspicions are further fueled when he interrogates the factory workers, catching Maldini off guard with his alibi for the day of the bombing. Similarly, the police grill Yassin about the incident, but he keeps Yehia's involvement under wraps.

Meanwhile, Fatla's mind is consumed with anxiety over Yehia and the extent of his actions. He finds himself pondering how Yehia, once seemingly unfamiliar with technology, had become so proficient, to which Yehia reveals he acquired his skills during his time in prison. As for Yassin, he endeavors to persuade Ali to stay indoors, but Ali steadfastly refuses to hide away. Ali asserts his bravery, insisting he is no coward, and dedicates himself to practising at the shooting range. Similarly, Sawsan also endeavors to discourage Ali from going to work, but Ali reveals that he has spent the past 15 years complying with his parents' wishes, which he can no longer endure. Instead, he seeks to regain his father's favor by smoothing over tensions with Michael. Concurrently, Yehia receives a text message informing him that Ali intended to marry Nadia and had no hand in her demise.

Next, Layla makes up her mind to confront Sherif about Yehia. Having delved into their shared past, she is confident that Yehia would never harm his sister and recalls a time when they were all close friends. Desperate for answers, she turns to Sherif, but he claims she is seeking them from the wrong individual.

Driven by desperation, she conveys a message to Yehia through the spy camera, weaving a lie that she is privy to the identity of Nadia's murderer and arranges to meet him. In his presence, she reassures him that she knows he is not the culprit but eagerly seeks the entire narrative. Yet, Yehia's patience wears thin, urging her to inquire within her own family for answers.

Accelerating his scheme, he breaches the security of Ali's driver's phone. As Ali makes his way home, Yehia intercepts them, feigning a flat tire as his pretext. With a swift action, he knocks the driver unconscious and holds Ali captive at gunpoint. Their journey concludes in a eerie cemetery, where Ali steadfastly maintains his innocence. A fierce gun battle erupts as Ali attempts to retaliate.

Desperately trying to rationalize with Yehia, Ali confesses he believes he might have accidentally caused Nadia's demise and is tormented by guilt. However, he is astounded when Yehia reveals that Nadia was indeed murdered. Ali then unveils that he had proposed to Nadia upon discovering her pregnancy, and Sherif possesses the evidence. A memory flashback depicts Sherif looking distressed at Layla's party, where he was tasked with capturing Ali's proposal to Nadia on camera.

In the cliffhanger of Echoes of the Past Episode 2, Ali approaches Yehia stealthily but spares his life. As a gesture of trust, he empties his gun chambers and departs, leaving the tension suspended in the air.
