Episode 7 of "Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born" kicks off with a startling moment as Jeong-nyeon bursts into song on stage, a daring deviation from the script that nevertheless earns her a thunderous ovation. Hye-ran, displaying remarkable improvisational skills, seamlessly adapts alongside her. Meanwhile, Yeong-seo's envy is palpable as she watches Jeong-nyeon effortlessly embody her character. So-bok, fiery with displeasure, reprimands Jeong-nyeon, banning her from the stage henceforth. Jeong-nyeon feels she poured her soul into the performance, salvaging the show, but So-bok remains unconvinced.
After the play, Ki-joo greets Yeong-seo with a warm embrace, praising her efforts. Elsewhere, Hye-ran privately informs Ok-gyeong that Jeong-nyeon's journey will not extend beyond this point. Ok-gyeong harbors hope that Jeong-nyeon will learn from her missteps.
As night falls, Joo-ran and Jeong-nyeon depart the theatre, the last to leave. Suddenly, a throng of fans descends upon Jeong-nyeon, lavishing her with praise for her mesmerizing performance. They profess that her song alone etched an indelible mark in their minds, obliterating all else. This revelation strikes Jeong-nyeon with the realization that she might have inadvertently sabotaged the play.
Yeong-seo returns home to a loving reception from her mother, but the warmth quickly dissipates as her mother showers Jeong-nyeon with commendations. She urges Yeong-seo to surpass Jeong-nyeon, even hinting at breaking her spirit.
Back at Maeran, Jeong-nyeon finds herself ostracized from training, relegated to mundane chores. Yet, her spirits remain unbroken. She dives into studying every other character on stage, practicing incessantly on her own. She and Joo-ran even engage in a playful rehearsal of the "Gomigeol and Precious" scene, which inexplicably leaves Joo-ran flustered and bashful.
Yeong-seo, inadvertently eavesdropping on her sister's practice, is reminded of her mother's poignant words. Subsequently, Jeong-nyeon discovers the record belonging to their mother shattered within their shared quarters, sparking her determination to confront Yeong-seo. However, upon entering, she finds Yeong-seo engrossed in her practice, tears streaming down her cheeks. Yeong-seo, with a heartfelt plea, asks Jeong-nyeon to guide her in mastering the art of singing as naturally as she does, without the necessity of relentless practice. Jeong-nyeon responds by acknowledging her struggle to escape the overwhelming shadow of her mother, vowing to forge her own path, urging Yeong-seo to do the same.
Later, Joo-ran and Yeong-seo attempt to perfect their scene but stumble, as Joo-ran's mind wanders back to a similar moment shared with Jeong-nyeon. Meanwhile, Ok-gyeong interventions, offering Jeong-nyeon insight into her interpretation of "Precious," cautioning her to grasp the narrative's entirety.
Elsewhere, So-bok and Do-aeng discover signs of an internal breach; an intruder has infiltrated the prop room. As the day of the next performance dawns, So-bok insists on a final rehearsal. During this session, disaster narrowly averts as a light fixture collapses from the stage ceiling. Joo-ran, instinctively reacting, throws herself to shield Yeong-seo, resulting in a sprained ankle. Realizing her understudy is unprepared, Joo-ran propositions Jeong-nyeon to take on the role of Precious.
Agreeing to this unprecedented switch, So-bok sets a stern condition: Jeong-nyeon must flawlessly embody Precious, or face expulsion from the troupe. He emphasizes that her focus must shift from her own interpretation to fueling Yeong-seo's performance, making her the unseen force behind the scenes.
On stage, Jeong-nyeon steadfastly adhered to her pledge throughout her opening scenes. As the Precious-Gomigeol scene approached, her compelling acting unexpectedly disoriented Yeong-seo, causing her to lose her place in the midst of her lines. Hye-ran was poised to intervene, yet So-bok held her ground, allowing Jeong-nyeon to improvise with remarkable agility, gracefully relinquishing control back to Yeong-seo. The moment passed smoothly, and subsequently, So-bok commended both Yeong-seo and Jeong-nyeon for their seamless recovery from the blunder. Furthermore, she officially designated Jeong-nyeon as a trainee, prompting the students to revel in their joy.
Do-aeng subsequently confidentially informed So-bok of her suspicion that Mr. Ko had orchestrated the stage light mishap. Together with Hye-ran, they ventured to his office and discovered that the troupe's ledgers and cash were mysteriously absent. Hye-ran instinctively wanted to summon the authorities, but So-bok dissuaded her, fearing that such news might tarnish the troupe's reputation.
Later, Hye-ran conspicuously aligned herself with Mr. Ko, revealing their covert collaboration. He handed her a book containing a list of journalists that Hye-ran had been bribing to suppress any revelations about Ok-gyeong's past. When Ko inquired about the reason behind her bribery, Hye-ran confessed her desire to keep Ok-gyeong's history concealed.
Returning home, Hye-ran found Ok-gyeong engrossed in reading a story to little Eun-jae. As Ok-gyeong prepared to join her friends, Hye-ran criticized them. Their disagreement escalated into an argument, with Ok-gyeong accusing Hye-ran of plotting to exclude Yeong-seo, Joo-ran, and Jeong-nyeon from the troupe. While Hye-ran clung desperately to their leading roles, Ok-gyeong embraced the thrill of competition.
During a discussion about a collaborative production with another troupe, the director turns to So-bok, urging him to propose a more equitable division of profits. Currently, Maeran receives a disproportionately large share, while the other troupes are struggling financially. As night falls, Joo-ran and Jeong-nyeon find themselves engaged in a leisurely chat, only to be interrupted by Yeong-seo, who is meticulously rehearsing her words intended for Jeong-nyeon. It transpires that Yeong-seo has purchased a Chae Gong-seon record as a replacement for the one inadvertently shattered by Joo-ran.
The following morning, So-bok breaks the news to the group about the joint production, highlighting that it will spotlight the youthful iterations of the prince and princess. Aspiring students will have the opportunity to audition for these roles, a pivotal step in cementing their status as the future inheritors of Ok-gyeong and Hye-ran's legacies. However, there's a twist: they must audition as pairs. Both Jeong-nyeon and Yeong-seo cast expectant glances towards Joo-ran at the conclusion of Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born Episode 7, setting the stage for an intriguing turn of events.
