This revelation strikes Jeong-nyeon with the realization that she might have inadvertently sabotaged the play.
Yeong-seo returns home to a loving reception from her mother, but the warmth quickly dissipates as her mother showers Jeong-nyeon with commendations. She urges Yeong-seo to surpass Jeong-nyeon, even hinting at breaking her spirit.
Back at Maeran, Jeong-nyeon finds herself ostracized from training, relegated to mundane chores. Yet, her spirits remain unbroken. She dives into studying every other character on stage, practicing incessantly on her own. She and Joo-ran even engage in a playful rehearsal of the "Gomigeol and Precious" scene, which inexplicably leaves Joo-ran flustered and bashful.
Yeong-seo, inadvertently eavesdropping on her sister's practice, is reminded of her mother's poignant words. Subsequently, Jeong-nyeon discovers the record belonging to their mother shattered within their shared quarters, sparking her determination to confront Yeong-seo. Later, Joo-ran and Yeong-seo attempt to perfect their scene but stumble, as Joo-ran's mind wanders back to a similar moment shared with Jeong-nyeon. Meanwhile, Ok-gyeong interventions, offering Jeong-nyeon insight into her interpretation of "Precious," cautioning her to grasp the narrative's entirety.
Elsewhere, So-bok and Do-aeng discover signs of an internal breach; an intruder has infiltrated the prop room. As the day of the next performance dawns, So-bok insists on a final rehearsal. During this session, disaster narrowly averts as a light fixture collapses from the stage ceiling. Joo-ran, instinctively reacting, throws herself to shield Yeong-seo, resulting in a sprained ankle. Realizing her understudy is unprepared, Joo-ran propositions Jeong-nyeon to take on the role of Precious.
Agreeing to this unprecedented switch, So-bok sets a stern condition: Jeong-nyeon must flawlessly embody Precious, or face expulsion from the troupe. As the Precious-Gomigeol scene approached, her compelling acting unexpectedly disoriented Yeong-seo, causing her to lose her place in the midst of her lines. Hye-ran was poised to intervene, yet So-bok held her ground, allowing Jeong-nyeon to improvise with remarkable agility, gracefully relinquishing control back to Yeong-seo.
