Alfie (portrayed by Aaron Harris) finds himself entangled in a web of bullying at school. Edwin, taking a harder stance, urges Alfie to confront his tormentors alone, whereas Matlock advocates for involving the principal. Matters escalate when Matlock receives an urgent call from the school, informing her that Alfie's plight remains unchanged. Determined to intervene, Matlock vows to persuade Edwin to place a call to the principal, only to be met with steadfast refusal. The domestic scene shifts tense as Edwin accuses Matlock of overindulging Alfie due to her protective instincts stemming from Ellie's past experiences.
Elsewhere, Billy (David Del Rio) finds temporary refuge with his mother, steadfastly refusing to evict his ex-girlfriend Claudia from their shared apartment. Sarah (Leah Lewis), ever the sharp-tongued observer, doesn't miss the opportunity to tease Billy about his predicament. However, as the episode draws to a close, Billy assures Sarah of his commitment to remove Claudia from his life.
Meanwhile, Sarah grapples with her own romantic quandary, pondering whether her relationship with Kira (Piper Kurda) has crossed into exclusive territory. Her courage falters when contemplating broaching the subject, but eventually, she musters the strength to confess to Kira that she isn't seeing anyone else. To Sarah's surprise, Kira seeks a month-long reprieve, asking if she might continue exploring other options. Reluctantly, Sarah concedes.Sam recounts her ordeal, detailing how her pregnancy was met with accusations of absenteeism and professional slacking. Compounding her woes, she was discovered discussing unionization efforts with fellow employees. Matters escalated drastically when her truck was stolen, culminating in her termination. Shae (played by Yael Grobglas) harbors suspicions, believing Sam is withholding crucial information.
Suddenly, Sam finds herself apprehended on grand larceny charges, with the corporation adamantly claiming she pilfered goods worth an estimated $50,000 from a delivery truck. Olympia contends that Stead Track orchestrated Sam's arrest as a retaliatory measure against her lawsuit. However, Stead Track's legal counsel insists on possessing irrefutable proof of Sam's theft. Olympia counters that the evidence has been fabricated.
The company lawyer asserts they discovered a packing slip in Sam's locker. Yet, Sam's friend Khadija (Ashli Auguillard) reveals she had emptied the locker months prior, suggesting it was planted by someone within the company. A janitor, Portia (Jill Johnson), handed the slip to manager Ahmed Hassan (Sriram Emani), leaving Matlock puzzled why a janitor would present what appeared to be trash to Ahmed. Olympia wonders aloud why Stead Track's lawyers have refrained from calling Portia to testify.
During their investigation, Olympia, Sarah, and Billy interview Portia, who unveils a peculiar scenario: Ahmed unusually supervised the locker cleaning. Upon finding the slip, Ahmed swooped in before Portia could even examine it.
Testifying in court, Ahmed alleges Sam stole a Gucci bag and concedes he doesn't usually oversee locker cleanings. When Olympia probes the reason for his unusual supervision, his legal team证明that it was due to a new employee's severe peanut allergy.
Florence Cruz (Maria Beck) takes the stand, narrating a dramatic scene where a car pulled up behind Sam's truck. Its occupants appeared wary, glancing around as if fearing observation. Subsequently, Sam hastily boarded the car, exuding urgency to depart. Olympia struggles to regain control of the unraveling case. Can Khadija truly be relied upon? Sam concedes that it was Khadija behind the wheel when the truck was appropriated. Olympia urges them to implicate Khadija strategically, aiming to cast reasonable doubt over her innocence. However, Sam balks at the idea. Olympia then assigns Matlock, Sarah, and Billy to delve deeper into Khadija's background, revealing she has no prior criminal record. Yet, their investigation unearths her former beau, Demetri (played by Gary B. Curtis), who does have a rap sheet and had parted ways with Khadija shortly after the theft.
Sarah and Billy interrogate Demetri, who spills the beans that Khadija was drowning in $50,000 worth of debts incurred from online gambling. Despite presenting this evidence to Sam, she stands firm in her conviction that Khadija is not to blame.
Earlier, Sam had admitted her earbuds were also aboard the stolen truck. Olympia and Matlock track down the location where the earbuds' Bluetooth signal was last detected, leading them to Irv, a resident of the building and a familiar face from the local bar.
During Olympia's cross-examination of Irv, she uncovers his true colors: an undercover union buster posing as a dispatch manager to spy on union activities. When Irv discovered Sam as the union's leader, he orchestrated the theft of her truck and planted incriminating evidence in her locker, framing her meticulously.
Olympia's fury towards Julian (Jason Ritter) remains undiminished, fueled by his affair with Shae years past. She unburdens herself to Matlock, who inadvertently stirs the pot with a careless comment, prompting Olympia to shun her. sensing the shift, Shae inquiries Julian if he has disclosed their past indiscretions to anyone. Adding fuel to the fire, Shae reveals that Olympia had been intimate with Elijah. When Julian confronts Olympia, Elijah unexpectedly enters the scene. Olympia swiftly dismisses any notion of an affair with Elijah, branding it inconsequential. Julian and Elijah, both incensed, storm out of the room.
In the aftermath, Olympia declares to Julian that their professional collaboration should cease. She demands his departure, but he stands firm, aware that partnership status at the firm awaits him at year's end. Julian proposes a solution: they should ask the managing board to choose one of them for partnership. The loser must then exit. Olympia, after a moment's hesitation, concurs.
Over cocktails, Olympia confides in Matlock about her and Julian's shared history at Jacobson Moore. Fresh out of law school, they had tackled the Wellbrexa cases under the guidance of Senior (Beau Bridges), amidst a storm of opioids-related lawsuits highlighting addiction risks and corporate knowledge. Olympia confesses that grappling with big pharma almost extinguished her moral compass. She also reveals encountering Shae during those Wellbrexa trials.
Later, at home, Matlock shares her suspicions with Edwin, arguing that Olympia is unlikely to be implicated. She speculates that Julian, perhaps acting under Senior's direction, could be the culprit. However, Matlock acknowledges a lack of concrete evidence exonerating Olympia, relying instead on her intuition strengthened by their burgeoning friendship. Edwin, however, seems unpersuaded by Matlock's intuitive assessment.
