Never Have I Ever – Season 4 Episode 8 1

Eleanor opens up about the challenges she faces in booking acting projects, revealing a vulnerability that contrasts her usual confidence. At dinner, Nalini seeks Paati's input on her birthday dinner plans for the following night, leading the family to agree on a cozy family gathering. Meanwhile, Kamala persists in her pessimism regarding Len, fearing he harbors intentions to deceive Paati. Nalini urges Kamala to channel her energy into work, trying to rationalize her sister's concerns.

Devi ventures into Nalini's room, initiating a heartfelt conversation about her mother's potential romance with Andres. After receiving an encouraging pep talk from Devi, Nalini agrees to invite Andres to Paati's birthday dinner. The next morning, Andres arrives at their doorstep, and Nalini warmly invites him to join them. He gently explains that given Devi and Margot's tumultuous past, it would be prudent for them not to pursue a relationship, lest it complicate their children's dynamics. Nalini gracefully accepts his decision, but Devi, who eavesdrops on the conversation, is determined to rectify the situation by mending fences with Margot.

At school, Devi broaches the subject with Margot, suggesting that their parents' mutual affection could provide them with companionship during their absence. Margot, initially hesitant, agrees to pretend friendliness with Devi for her father's sake. In the cafeteria, Trent casually mentions to Ben that he doesn't need to prioritize his assignments or grades since he's already secured his college spot, adding a layer of reality to their high school experience.

Ben is swayed by Trent's audacious rationale and decides to ease off the throttle, embracing fun during his senior year. As he arrives home, Devi and Margot arrive together, their reunion evident. They share with Andres and Nalini the news of their reconciliation, inviting Andres—and, to Nalini's astonishment, Margot—to join them for dinner that evening.

At the dinner table, the conversation flows about how Devi and Margot overcame their differences to mend their friendship. However, as time passes, the two young friends begin to forge a deeper bond, exchanging playful jokes about the adults in their lives. Meanwhile, Len receives a call from someone named 'Baby,' prompting Kamala's suspicions to flare up. Curious and concerned, she tails him to eavesdrop on his conversation. The caller mentions plans to visit the Vishwakumar residence, but Len asks them to hold off until after his marriage to Kamala.

At the audition venue, Eleanor bumps into her mother, Joyce, who is also vying for the same role. Joyce beams with pride, delighted to see her daughter following in her footsteps as an actress. She expresses her hope that Eleanor will now comprehend the choices she made in her own life. Eleanor, initially irate at her mother's apparent lack of empathy, gradually comes to terms with the realization that pursuing an acting career is far from an easy endeavor.

Eleanor makes a definitive decision, stepping away from the audition stage where her acting dreams once thrived, as Joyce secures the role in her stead. Returning to the Vishwakumar residence, Devi and Margot are astonishment personified, witnessing their parents' growing closeness despite their vastly differing interests. As they delve into conversation, Margot reveals that Ben has been messaging her, sparking a moment of shock for Devi. She learns that Ben's exchanges with Margot carried depth and sincerity, contrasting sharply with the memes and jests he shared solely with her. The realization dawns on Devi that Ben harbored feelings for Margot, mirroring her own sentiments for him. Gracefully, she encourages Margot to reconnect with Ben, asserting her own closure from the past romantic entanglement.

In a separate twist, Kamala stealthily snares Len's phone, leveraging Devi's assistance to craft a seductive text inviting "Baby" over to their abode. Elsewhere, Trent and Ben embark on their first joint outing, a scene filled with awkward exchanges. Trent subtly coerces Ben into consuming drug-laced gummies before inquiring about his deepest fantasies. Ben, unaware of the gummies' effects, admits to having sexual dreams featuring Devi dressed in a BDSM ensemble.

Trent deduces that such vivid dreams signify Ben's latent love for Devi, urging him to confess his feelings. Amid this internal turmoil, Ben arrives at the Vishwakumar household, his surprise compounded by Margot's presence. Meanwhile, the gummies' intoxicating influence begins to take hold, while Margot feels betrayed by Devi. Convinced that Devi and Ben harbored a hidden affair, and kept it concealed from her during her own emotional outpourings, Margot's trust in her friend begins to shatter.

Ben is utterly engrossed in a realm of his own imagination, while Devi solemnly vows that she was nowhere near him during his reverie. Tragically, Ben inadvertently ruins the birthday cake that Len had meticulously crafted for Paati. Just when tensions are at their peak, an unexpected visitor arrives at their doorstep. Kamala hastily accuses the newcomer, asserting that she is Len's girlfriend and that they are both scheming to deceive Paati. However, Paati clarifies that the woman, named Baby, is actually their Real Estate Agent and is assisting them in acquiring a vacation condo as a surprise for the family post-wedding.

Margot expresses her desire to depart with her father, and Ben decides to accompany them, much to Kamala's disbelief. Despite Paati's explanation, Kamala remains unconvinced, prompting the elderly woman to reveal that she and Len are planning a family vacation and intend to surprise everyone after tying the knot. Nalini, recognizing the misunderstanding, bids Len and Baby farewell and calls it a night. Len harbors a hope that Kamala will eventually comprehend his undying love for Nirmala and his incapacity to harm her.

Nalini gently informs Devi that she didn't require her daughter's meddling in her love life. She reassuringly promises that she will be alright once Devi returns to college. Kamala, in a moment of vulnerability, admits that she passed up a lucrative job opportunity and has been using Paati's relationship as an escape from her own realities. Nalini wisely advises Kamala that change is inevitable and that the four women must confront it together.

The following day, Eleanor excitedly announces to Devi and Fabiola that she will accompany them to the prom. Devi seeks out Margot to apologize for Ben's antics. Margot reveals that Ben's texts were merely an attempt to end the school year on amicable terms, leading Devi to believe that Ben had also friendzoned her, much like he did with Margot.

Devi opens up to Margot, confessing her own feelings for Ben and acknowledging that they were not reciprocated. Margot and Devi forge a bond over their shared rejection by Ben. They find humor in their father's budding relationship with Devi's mother, sharing light-hearted jokes about it. Andres arrives at Nalini's residence, expressing his readiness to set aside the drama involving their daughters and pursue a genuine relationship with Nalini.

Devi walks in on Andres and Nalini sharing a tender moment and gracefully grants them privacy. Later, Devi checks the status of her college applications, only to be met with devastating news. The episode concludes with Devi's heartfelt outcry upon discovering that she has been rejected by all the Ivy League colleges she applied to and is merely on the waitlist for Princeton.
