Episode 4 of Night Sky kicks off with Franklin's skepticism towards Jude's narrative lingering. Upon discovering the bloodstained knife, he sets off to consult Officer Thomas, determined to push for a DNA test and unravel Jude's true identity. However, Thomas remains unconvinced, dismissing Franklin's tech-laden conspiracy theories as mere manifestations of a fragile mind.

Meanwhile, Jude delves into the archives, uncovering a shocking revelation: his father's arrest for vagrancy, accompanied by claims of amnesia. When Irene presents this to Franklin, he quips with a wry smile, jesting that perhaps amnesia runs in the family, inadvertently highlighting a sinister thread begging to be unraveled.

Toni and Stella's investigation takes a turn as they collaborate with Nick, who leads them to an abandoned warehouse. Inside, a machine spews forth a barrage of random numbers, revealing themselves as serial codes. Nick's expertise narrows their search, but he insists on accompanying them to pinpoint the signal's origin. Toni, and we as viewers, remain in the dark, anticipating the unraveling of this mystery.

Elsewhere, Denise finds solace at Katie's, awakening to share her mounting stress. Meanwhile, Byron's frustration boils over as he burns his campaign signs, symbolizing a turning point.

Back at the house, Irene confronts Jude about his secrecy, questioning his reluctance to share details of his life. Jude responds with a pained smile, grateful for her concern despite the distance. Just then, Dale's call from the pawnbrokers interrupts, and Jude, posing as Franklin's son, engages in a tense conversation about the gold coins' value. His displeasure is palpable.

Secretive phone calls ensue, with Jude inquiring about the coins. The cryptic response, "Fiat voluntas Dei," echoes in Latin, a testament to divine will. As Irene arrives to settle Jude's housework wages, he departs, clutching Chandra's stolen business card. He rushes to the local bar, realizing that Chandra has absconded with a valuable rectangular slab, a glint of which had previously caught our eye.

Intriguingly, Jude finds himself coincidentally ensconced in the very same tavern where Denise and Katie are indulging in libations. Drawn by chance, Denise approaches him, and their evening spirals into a whirlwind of fiery shots and exhilarating dances.

Meanwhile, Byron strolls into the billiard hall, where an unlikely bond forms as he engages in a friendly round of games with Franklin. Initially, Byron confronts Franklin about the campaign stunt, but Franklin stands firm, insisting he never informed the authorities. Amidst Franklin's initial frostiness, a genuine connection blossoms between them. Franklin confesses his unwavering love for Irene, yet doubts linger over whether her feelings mirror his own. Byron, on the other hand, grapples with his own demons; he was Jeanine's second choice, her original partner's fate leaving him as the "consolation prize," a label that has seemingly defined their relationship.

As the night deepens, they both succumb to the call of alcohol, and outside the bustling bar, Byron's honesty surfaces. He acknowledges having underestimated Franklin, probing curiously about the mysterious doorway. Franklin, initially dismissive, claiming it merely a bomb shelter, eventually relents to Byron's relentless curiosity and agrees to show him.

Descending into the shelter's depths, Franklin guides Byron to that enigmatic spot, but to their astonishment, nothing happens. The shelter remains stagnant, its magic seemingly absent, leaving Byron to chuckle incredulously, suspecting this all to be a grand hoax, perhaps a bizarre dungeon in disguise.

Elsewhere, Irene awakens to find Jude missing, prompting her to embark on a search. As fate would have it, Jude exits the bar, his steps aimless towards home, only to be intercepted by the police, triggering haunting memories of his past arrest. The bloody incident resurfaces—the relentless stabbing of his assailant.

In the present tense, Irene's drive intersects with Jude's path, her car passing him as he lies prone, face pressed against the police cruiser's hood, moments from being taken into custody. The moment, a poignant reminder of life's unpredictable twists and turns.
