Episode 5 of One Piece kicks off with the military hot on the heels of Luffy and his crew. Flashbacks paint a vivid picture of Luffy's past, revealing his fleeting ties with Garp. As a young lad, Luffy's dreams were centered around building his own pirate ship, but fate had other plans. Instead, Garp swooped in, determined to mold him into a better person.

Back in the present, aboard their battered ship, Luffy rallies the troops, but their readiness for battle is far from assured. Usopp's clumsy antics lead to a spill of cannonballs, but it's Garp who steals the show with his astonishing strength, tossing one of the rounds back at the crew. Luffy, unfazed, enlarges his body and rebounds the cannonball, smashing into the Admiral's ship and tearing one of its sails.

This stroke of luck slows down their pursuers, allowing the Straw Hat Crew to vanish into a dense, convenient fog. The ship is battered, but the crew finds solace in the mist. Thankfully, Luffy's keen sense of smell leads them through the fog to the Baratie - a magnificent vessel transformed into a restaurant.

Usopp and Luffy's attempts at charm fail miserably with the concierge, but Nami manages to grease the wheels with a few coins, securing them a table. And who can forget the anime's signature shots of culinary artistry and delicious food? As the group digs in, a charismatic fighter-chef named Sanji steals the show. His presence immediately captivates the Straw Hat Crew.

The air is filled with camaraderie as the crew settles in for a feast. But after the meal, the elephant in the room cannot be ignored. Luffy raises a toast to their victory over the Marines, but Nami quickly brings him back to reality, reminding him of their powerful enemy - Vice Admiral Garp, his own grandfather.

Meanwhile, the Vice-Admiral urgently summoned Mihawk amidst the raging battle to hunt down Luffy and bring him back alive. Despite the chaos surrounding him, Mihawk, a renowned sea lord, displayed his remarkable prowess, effortlessly slicing a ship in half with his gargantuan sword. As a bounty hunter, he was instructed to capture Luffy alive, resorting to any means necessary. Overhearing this conversation, Koby found himself questioning his loyalties, later confiding in Garp about his inner turmoil.

Back at the Baratie, Luffy attempted to waive off the bill for his meal, promising to repay it with interest in the future. However, the head chef, Zeff, was unimpressed and insisted that Luffy clean all the dishes until his debt was settled. While fulfilling this task, Luffy sampled some of Sanji's culinary creations, his face immediately lighting up in amazement. Upon inquiring, he learned that Sanji's dream was to find the All Blue, a mythical locale harboring unheard-of spices, seaweed, and fish. He aspired to cook these rare delicacies and achieve worldwide fame, but the prospect seemed daunting. Nevertheless, Luffy encouraged him never to abandon his dream.

Later, a frail pirate, desperate for food, stumbled into the restaurant. Sanji, compassionate as ever, offered him a meal and saved his life. Impressed by Sanji's kindness, Luffy extended an invitation to join his crew as a cook. However, the pirate revealed that he was part of a vast armada that had vanished at sea, swallowed by the vastness of the Grand Line in their quest for the One Piece. Out of 50 ships and 5000 men, he was the sole survivor. His warning about the dangers of the Grand Line only strengthened Luffy's resolve to pursue his goal.

Elsewhere, Nami made a decisive choice to split and embarked on her journey to the Conomi Islands. She approached a shady character in the bar, offering a hefty sum of 6000 Berries as her passage fee. Determined to travel alone, she was instructed to be ready by the break of dawn at Slip 22.

Before her departure, Nami shared a few drinks with Zoro, exchanging snippets of information amidst their conversation. Little did they know, that fateful night, Mihawk made his appearance. Zoro, fueled by a past promise to Kuina, boldly challenged Mihawk to a duel to the death at dawn.

Nami and Usopp were horrified by this turn of events and promptly alerted Luffy. Given Mihawk's reputation as a fearsome warlord of the sea, Nami feared for Zoro's life. But Zoro was resolute, determined to fulfill his dream and uphold his promise.

Luffy, realizing he couldn't stand in the way of Zoro's dream, reluctantly allowed the duel to take place. Nami, though, pointed out that they were friends, but Zoro pushed her aside, declaring that she had no friends, echoing her own words.

At the crack of dawn, Nami made her way to the dock, torn between leaving and staying. Her courage faltered, yet she ultimately chose to stick around. Meanwhile, Zoro faced off against Mihawk in a fierce duel. The two traded blows with unwavering determination.

However, Zoro's efforts were ultimately in vain, as he was stabbed in the heart. "Why don't you retreat?" Mihawk asked, but Zoro replied firmly, "I can't. Or my dream will be lost forever."

Mihawk was impressed by Zoro's unwavering courage and decided to bring out his best sword for the final confrontation. As they traded blows again, Zoro lost two of his swords, sliced to bits by Mihawk's blade. Defeated, Zoro allowed Mihawk to slice him across his chest, knocking him to the ground.

Luffy, enraged, vowed to become the King of the Pirates. His courage and determination moved Mihawk, who chose to walk away, believing that the world could always use a few more wildcards. He encouraged Luffy to return and seek him out again in the future, leaving Zoro unconscious on the ground, vowing never to lose again.
