Red Swan – K-drama Episode 3 1

Flashing back two years, the narrative unfolds a clandestine mission entrusted to Ju-hyuk and Do-hyun by their superior—a daunting task to unravel the financial intricacies of the President's inner circle and their illicit funds. Do-hyun's initial reluctance was palpable, the idea of eavesdropping on the President and his cronies weighing heavily on his conscience. Yet, the superior's unwavering stance that no one stands above the law resonated, pushing them forward. It was during this period that Ju-hyuk embarked on an investigation into the Hwain Group and the Chairman's enigmatic demise, sparking conversations that lingered in Do-hyun's mind. Ju-hyuk's untimely end fueled Do-hyun's quest for justice, his vow to uncover the truth undimmed despite his superiors' reluctance.

In the present, Do-hyun's pursuit of answers entwines him with Wan-soo, their bond forged by a shared goal. Wan-soo, determined to safeguard the Wow Foundation from Chairwoman Park's clutches, plots to elevate it to an international stage, rendering the Park family's avarice futile. Her steely resolve is mirrored in her conversation with her brother, where they ponder the shadowy role of Chairwoman Park in her near-fatal encounter.

Meanwhile, Wan-soo's concerns extend to her husband's illegitimate son, Jun-hee, and his mother, Ta-era. Her suggestion for them to flee to Switzerland falls on deaf ears as Ta-era nurtures a fantastical plan to conceive again, hoping to secure Yong-guk's affection through another child. Her brazen revelation of Yong-guk's cynical motives in proposing to her stings Wan-soo deeply, yet she retains her composure, asserting her dominance over Ta-era.

The domestic drama escalates, with Chairwoman Park and Wan-soo locked in a fierce battle for control of the Wow Foundation. Yong-guk's casual dismissal of Wan-soo's emotions over his infidelity further fuels the fire, their interactions revealing a dysfunctional union. Wan-soo's poignant request for him to send Ta-era away meets with resistance, as he claims the need to consult his mother.

Amidst this tempestuous atmosphere, Ta-era seeks refuge at Chairwoman Park's doorstep, beseeching her to intervene on Wan-soo's behalf. Chairwoman Park, unperturbed, issues a terse command to her secretary, orchestrating a sinister plan to confront Wan-soo, the necessary documents to be delivered to her office the following dawn.

The dawn of the next day found Wan-soo on the verge of an emotional explosion upon discovering Jun-hee's inclusion in their family portrait session. Confronting Chairwoman Park with fury in her eyes, she was met with the old woman's unwavering insistence, backed by DNA evidence, that Jun-hee was indeed Yong-guk's son. Chairwoman Park's ulterior motive was clear: to replace Wan-soo's deceased son with Jun-hee, a secret the family had kept from the world. The public, oblivious to the truth, believed Wan-soo's son to be studying abroad in Switzerland.

The chairwoman lambasted Wan-soo for her refusal to conceive again and support her husband's ambition for the Chairman's position. Despite the turmoil, Wan-soo reluctantly posed for the photographs, Jun-hee included, but thankfully, the media's prying eyes remained largely oblivious. A solitary journalist's inquiry about the skiing mishap was swiftly silenced by Wan-soo, who instructed her secretary to bury the story under a mountain of paperwork.

Parallel to this, Chairwoman Park orchestrated the transformation of Chan-hee's former chamber into Jun-hee's, a move that pushed Wan-soo to the brink. She stormed out of the mansion, seeking solace in solitude, with Do-hyun doggedly following despite her pleas for privacy. Finding refuge at the seashore, Wan-soo battled her emotions, her anger ebbing as she plotted her next course of action. Do-hyun, a silent sentinel, watched over her, later escorting her to their secluded getaway where Wan-soo was startled to encounter Yong-guk.

Yong-guk's drunken ramblings turned into accusations of Wan-soo's emotional detachment, while she countered with Ta-era's allegations. He denied them all, claiming love as the sole reason for their union. As Wan-soo's indifference fueled his frustration, Yong-guk's advances escalated into a physical struggle. Through the transparent walls, Do-hyun bore witness and sprang into action, rescuing Wan-soo from Yong-guk's grasp. Wan-soo, shaken, requested Do-hyun to ferry her back home, leaving Yong-guk seething in their wake.

The subsequent morning, Wan-soo's secretary briefed her on Yong-guk's antics, but her heart remained untouched. Ta-era, having gained intel on Yong-guk's escapades, stormed into his lair, intent on evicting his new companion and sowing discord between him and Wan-soo. Yet, this time, Yong-guk shunned her advances.

Meanwhile, Do-hyun solidified his presence within the house, engaging in rigorous training alongside the guards. His attempts to extract information about Yong-guk from Kyeong-ju yielded little, with the latter remaining tight-lipped. Kyeong-ju's suspicions piqued when Do-hyun's inquiries delved into the late Chairman's demise.

Fruitless in his conversations with Kyeong-ju, Do-hyun leveraged his position as RF team leader to obtain surveillance footage of Yong-guk's recent activities spanning two weeks. The footage, however, proved unenlightening. Returning to Ju-hyuk's video footage, a revelation dawned on Do-hyun: Chairman Park's demise did not occur at the Grand Palace, as previously reported. His mind raced back to his final conversation with Ju-hyuk, questions swirling—where did the Chairman truly perish? How and why was the Hwain Group concealing the truth about his death?
