Consequently, Tess grants Sunny the day off.

Sight Unseen – Season 2 Episode 6 1

Tess and Detective Leo Li (Tony Giroux) rush to the scene to communicate with the distressed caller. They instruct him to examine his phone's contacts and recent calls, but to their surprise, the screen remains blank. The phone's camera is also inoperable, ruling out the possibility of a video chat. A closer inspection reveals pools of blood surrounding him, suggesting he might have been shot. Shortly thereafter, Doctor Rae Brampton (Tegan Moss) arrives to assess the caller's condition to the best of her abilities.

After exchanging insights with the caller, Tess, Leo, and Rae deliberate on their findings and speculate about the victim's potential location. Tess hypothesizes he could be at a nearby construction site, while Leo posits a shopping yard or warehouse as plausible alternatives. They further suspect that the caller's phone is a disposable one, evidenced by its lack of personal information.

Despite her attempts to catch up on sleep, Sunny finds herself tossing and turning. She awakens to check her computer, only to witness her neighbor in a state of panic. On the other end of the line, the caller informs Tess and Leo that the oil fumes emanating from the sand are overwhelming him. Tess instructs him to sift through the sand, and to her amazement, he uncovers a gun. She directs him to check the serial number, prompting Tess to contact Matt Alleyne (Jarod Joseph) for assistance. Matt informs her that the caller's battery life is dwindling, possibly giving them four to five hours at most. He warns her to monitor the CO2 levels closely, a critical factor in such situations. The call concludes abruptly when Leo reappears with crucial information about the gun's serial number. He reveals that the weapon is registered to Mike Nolan (Adam Kozlick), who happens to be the co-owner of VQH Construction and has been absent from work today, adding another layer of intrigue to the unfolding mystery.

As Sunny is jolted awake by piercing screams, Tess promptly dials Mike and unfolds the intriguing details she has unearthed about him. Mike, however, remains oblivious to all the revelations. Meanwhile, Sunny maneuvers a camera through her ventilation system into the adjacent apartment, where she glimpses a shadowy figure resembling a man.

Tess engages in a conversation with Mike's business associate, Thomas Armento, while Leo interrogates Ezra (Patrick Roccas) about his mysterious black eye. Thomas confesses to Tess that the business is on the brink of collapse but insists that he's hands-off in the financial matters. He further alleges that Mike had a heated argument with Ezra at the worksite yesterday. Ezra acknowledges the spat, explaining that Thomas threatened to terminate him for tardiness.

Sunny, peering through the hallway security camera, spots her neighbor dragging something sinisterly akin to a human body. Frantically, she attempts to reach Kye (Ennis Esmer) but her calls remain unanswered. Mike's girlfriend, Ruby, reveals to Tess that Mike has started carrying a gun and mentioned the business owing a substantial amount of money. She shares a tumultuous relationship with Mike, marked by frequent breaks and reconciliations, yet underscores his generosity towards her and her daughter.

Tess and Leo summon Ruby to confront Mike, but the reunion turns sour as Mike fails to recognize her. Sunny recounts her harrowing discovery to Kye, prompting him to inquire if she's resumed her sleepwalking. Upon learning she accessed the security footage using his login credentials, she apologizes profusely, but Kye ultimately storms off.

Mike's demeanor turns increasingly erratic as he converses with Tess, causing him to batter around the drum. In a chaotic twist, he topples it over and starts choking. Tess proposes to Leo and Bennett that they use the gun to create an air vent. Bennett, albeit intrigued, seeks the ballistics team's input first.

Sunny watches Kye approach the suspicious neighbor, who she believes is up to mischief, as he enters his apartment. Tess coaches Mike through the perilous task of discharging the gun. Thanks to the newly created ventilation, Mike's vision clears, revealing a concrete wall and more oil drums surrounding him. Despite his exhaustion, Tess keeps Mike engaged by probing into a memory he once tried to describe to Ruby.

Leo unearths a grim revelation: six months prior, a workplace fatality occurred at one of Thomas and Mike's job sites, intricately linked to Ezra's apprentice.

Leo re-enters the interrogation room, determined to grill Ruby about the circumstances surrounding the death. Meanwhile, Tess engages in a conversation with Ezra about the incident, soon followed by Leo who delves deeper into the matter with him. Under Leo's relentless questioning, Ezra concedes that the worksite was hazardous but insists that the blame does not fall on his shoulders. He further alleges that Mike had implored him to conceal the unsafe conditions.

Sunny stands anxiously by, her patience wearing thin as she awaits Kye's emergence from the apartment, only to witness another figure stepping inside. Bennett, Leo, and Tess convene to discuss the case, with Bennett sharing a haunting anecdote about a time when he felt the grip of death's cold embrace, surrounded by darkness and isolation. Sunny, desperate to uncover what transpires within the apartment, attempts to manipulate the camera's feed.

Tess weaves a tale, informing Mike that they are on the verge of uncovering his whereabouts. She delves into his past, prompting him to describe the room he finds himself in. To her astonishment, she reveals that she is clinically blind. Mike confesses his terror of the dark, while Tess shares her own harrowing experience of running away from home at 15. Their conversation is abruptly cut short when the phone's battery dwindles, forcing them to hang up. Just after ending the call, Tess receives a call from Matt, who suggests contacting the trade union to conduct a search of their sites.

In a moment of dire need, Sunny dials 911 regarding Kye's whereabouts before fleeing her apartment. Unexpectedly, Kye emerges from the shadows, placing his arm on her shoulder. Instinctively, Sunny lashes out, her punch connecting before she could think better of it. Simultaneously, Leo confronts Thomas about the perilous job site, uncovering that Ezra had been blackmailing them. Ezra acknowledges this, while Leo discovers that Mike had paid the $50,000 hush money—a fact unknown to Thomas.

Sunny offered a heartfelt apology to Kye for striking him, only to learn in the same breath that her neighbor was amidst repainting his apartment and clearing out belongings once belonging to his late wife. Overwhelmed with empathy, Sunny's sincere apologies were cut short by the abrupt ringing of her phone.

Elsewhere, Matt informed Tess that the Union had agreed to reach out to their members, contingent upon receiving an official request from the police. Tess readily concurred. When Sunny's casual mention of a horn sparked a realization in Tess, a ingenious plan unfolded: by sounding a horn at a designated time across various job sites, they could pinpoint Mike's location once he recognized the signal. This revelation also leaned towards suspecting Josh's demise as an accident, given Mike's non-union status at the time.

Tess imparted her theory to Bennett, who emphasized the urgency of locating Mike above all else. As Mike heard the horn and the team swiftly identified his whereabouts, Tess swiftly updated Thomas on their discovery, adding that a site manager had mentioned Thomas giving Mike access to an excavator. Through a blend of clever maneuvering and intense questioning, Thomas confessed to Josh's death, asserting it was a tragic accident. While he denied any involvement in Mike's fate, Tess promptly arrested him on charges of attempted murder.

Later, Kye reappeared at Sunny's doorstep, prompting another apology from her. He confessed his attraction to her and his hope for a potential date, acknowledging her seemingly fixated state. As a gesture of kindness, he handed her the card of a therapist residing within the same building.

The episode concluded with Tess and Lucas Avery (Alec Santos) engaging in a poignant conversation about his upcoming wedding and their shared memories of their mother.
