The second installment of "Small Town Big Story" kicks off with the film crew holding auditions in the quaint town of Drumban. The townsfolk have turned out in droves, yet the crew finds themselves in a predicament, struggling to unearth a gem among the hopefuls. However, Joanne emerges as a standout, capturing the crew's admiration.
Meanwhile, Wendy pens a missive to Seamus, a gentle reminder cum ultimatum that, for the sake of their production, he must welcome the crew into his abode. Curiously, he is the sole recipient of such a letter, raising suspicions about Wendy's true motives.
Back in the United States, Wendy engages in a conversation with Brad, highlighting that they've secured their lead cast. Their leading man, Olaf, an online sensation known for his rugged charm and woodchopping prowess, has been cast. However, his notorious history of bailing on projects leaves Brad with a lingering sense of unease.
These fears soon prove warranted as Olaf goes mysteriously missing, leaving Wendy red-faced and scrambling. And as if Wendy's woes weren't enough, the town is also grappling with an eerie phenomenon: dead birds inexplicably plummeting from the heavens. Whether this intriguing plot thread will be unraveled remains to be seen.
After a week immersed in the town's charm, Wendy returns to her family home. It transpires that this isn't her first visit (she had actually slipped in for a quick reconnaissance during the previous episode). Her parents, notably distant, and her estranged father, who's off playing golf and Ignoring her completely, make her homecoming anything but heartwarming.
Among the film crew, there stands a peculiar figure - Jules O'Brien, a location scout who exudes an air of nerdiness and social ineptitude. As he makes his way to the set, fate has a whimsical twist, and he trips, tumbling gracefully to the ground. Fortunately, Seamus is nearby to lend a helping hand. The diagnosis quickly reveals a painful injury to Jules' leg, but there's more to his plight than mere physical woe; his heart skips a beat whenever he catches sight of Shelly, the charming bartender.
Wendy, with a gleam in her eye, casts a covetous gaze upon the school, convinced it's the epitome of the perfect filming location. However, her true intentions are far from professional; she's actually shadowing Seamus' life, particularly his children. The producers' untimely arrival at the school disrupts a dramatic scene between Catherine and Matt, just before Seamus finally crosses paths with Wendy in the night.
Wendy is incensed by Seamus' nonchalant attitude towards their harrowing experience during the Millennium celebration - a moment when a UFO soared overhead and whisked them both away. Seamus, unburdening his soul, confesses his belief in something otherworldly that snatched them from reality, yet he remains clueless about their mysterious release. One vivid memory does linger, however - the enigmatic "blue room" where they were momentarily imprisoned.
Wendy's fury stems from Seamus' refusal to validate her claims in the past, brushing them aside with a shrug. She longed to share their story with the world, but Seamus preferred to consign it to the dusty archives of forgotten history.
Back at home, Wendy's fortunes plummet further as Brad's phone call shatters her illusions. Olaf, the hit-and-miss woodcutter they'd considered hiring, had merely used their offer as a springboard for his own ambitions. But amidst this disappointment, a ray of hope shines online - an advertisement featuring Jimmy, who had previously auditioned. Wendy, grasping at straws, believes he might be the right man for the job, or at least, the last viable option left standing.
