In the sixth episode of "Such Brave Girls," Josie and Billie brace themselves for an emotional encounter with their father at their nan's funeral. Nicky extends an invitation to Billie, hoping she'll accompany him to the grand opening of his ice bar in Manchester, but she reluctantly declines, believing he'll eventually return to her, just as her father once did. Deb insists that Dev stays away from the funeral to spare him the awkward encounter with her ex, only to find out that Spencer isn't even in attendance. Seeking clarity, Billie sets out to find Nicky, realizing that men don't always return on their own; sometimes, you have to take the initiative.
After the solemn ceremony, Dev unexpectedly visits Lisa's grave, hoping the gesture will bring Deb and him closure, paving the way for their future. Josie feels validated when Seb acknowledges her past traumas, leading to her first kiss with him. During a subsequent visit to Dev's home, Seb reveals to Dev that he and Josie have finally consummated their relationship. Dev, on the other hand, admits to feeling anxious about hosting the girls for the first time.
Deb, convinced that Dev is planning to propose and is merely waiting for Billie's arrival, is thrilled yet anxious. Josie's stomach churns when Seb mentions making a lifelong commitment, causing Deb to plead with her not to jeopardize her potential happiness. Josie wonders if Dev is truly capable of providing for Deb, given his history of financial irresponsibility.
When Dev praises Deb for always being there for her daughters, she decides to chase after Billie to Manchester with the rest of the family. However, upon reaching Nicky, Billie discovers that Bianca is also present. Nicky has apparently promised to name his bar after both of them. Learning that Billie isn't actually heading to Manchester, Dev poses an unexpected question: would Deb and the girls accompany him to Spencer's grave? Taken aback, Deb agrees instinctively, oblivious to the fact that no such grave exists. For the first time, Dev offers to cover the expenses—the petrol for their journey.
Deb vows to Josie that upon tying the knot, she will experience the zenith of happiness she's ever known. Josie, skeptical of her mother's assurance, wonders aloud if her mother felt the same about her father. Josie then pleads with her mother, insisting that if true happiness for her is Deb's goal, they should continue their journey and abandon Seb at the gas station. Deb, seemingly grasping the gravity of her daughter's feelings, concedes and instructs Dev to depart, prioritizing Josie's wishes. In a moment of frustration, Deb shouts out the car window, revealing to Seb that Josie is gay—or at least, "for now."
Elsewhere, Bianca and Billie find common ground in confronting Nicky about his mistreatment towards them. They confront him head-on, scorching him with their words for his conduct towards both of them. Bianca then proceeds to return a multitude of gifts generously bestowed upon her by Nicky, while Billie, unable to contain her anger, storms off in a huff. Unbeknownst to Billie, Bianca has a sudden change of heart and hastily hops back into Nicky's car.
At her home, Billie seeks solace in Josie's presence, inquiring with a hint of vulnerability if she had ever been loved by Nicky or their father. Josie, momentarily taken aback by the question, asks for further clarification, her brow furrowing in confusion.
To accommodate a request, Deb accompanies Dev to the grave of a stranger, falsely presenting it as Spencer's resting place. Billie vents her frustration by shouting at the grave, while Deb speaks reverently, recommending Dev to the fictional "Spencer," highlighting his virtues. Dev, a gentleman who even footed the gas bill today, earns Deb's praise. However, as they depart, Dev politely requests reimbursement for the fuel he paid.
Josie leaves a fiery note addressed to her father alongside some tea bags, bidding farewell with a hopeful yet bitter remark about the worth of her departure.
Later, Dev shares an encounter with an intriguing man he met in the pub who skipped the funeral due to his fear of facing his children. Josie and Billie realize with astonishment that this man was their father, Spencer.
