Sunny – Season 1 Episode 4 1

The narrative shifts seamlessly to Masa in the familiar bar, where he exchanges a gleaming gold watch with the enigmatic blonde woman, Hime, from the previous episode. Hime's ties to the Yakuza have Suzie relentless in her pursuit to uncover her true identity, but at the funeral, she's ambushed by a group, one of whom alludes to Masa's father and Shigeru's role in extracting Masa from his self-imposed exile. This revelation adds another layer of deceit to Masa's original claim that his father drove him into solitude.

Noriko, Masa's mother, pulls Suzie aside, seeking answers amidst a verbal tennis match that yields no winners. Suzie collides with walls of silence, as if every question bounces back unanswered. If Noriko harbors any secrets, she keeps them locked tighter than a vault, merely urging Masa to abandon his inquiries and "mourn with dignity."

Undeterred, Suzie stumbles upon Mixxy outside, apparently there for the complimentary feast. The two, joined by Sunny, embark on a boozy quest for answers. Sunny's sleuthing uncovers that Masa's koseki, the family registry, is a mere snippet of what exists – a single, barren sheet of paper. The key lies in a more exhaustive document, the kaiseigen koseki, accessible only to direct descendants, necessitating Noriko's consent as their gateway.

Suzie stealthily infiltrates the bathhouse, unaware that a blonde Yakuza boss, accompanied by her ruthless henchmen, shadows her every move. She silently summons Tetsu to infiltrate the premises, while Sunny, her nerves on edge, anxiously paces outside. Amid their concealment, a clandestine gathering of men huddles, their whispers betraying their clandestine discussions of the Junk League and Hime's dubious prospects of ascending to the top.

Tetsu's sudden appearance disrupts the clandestine scene, his eyes scanning the room with a menacing gaze. He singles out Botan, cornering him with questions about Jin's schemes and their prior conversation regarding Hime. Botan remains tight-lipped, prompting Tetsu to unleash a brutal assault, leaving Botan a battered mess before disappearing into the shadows.

Meanwhile, Sunny orchestrates a cunning plan at Noriko's abode, feigning an innocent errand to tidy up. Her true objective: a clandestine document. Her cunning strategy involves lulling Noriko into a drunken stupor, and with practiced ease, Sunny secures the document and flees, momentarily plagued by disorienting flashes as she switches her power source.

On the bustling streets, Sunny confronts Mixxy and Suzie with shocking revelations. The trio narrowly escapes the bathhouse unscathed. Sunny's bombshell exposes Shigeru's spurious claim as Masa's son, fueling speculation of an illicit liaison. The revelation deepens when she divulges Masa's last-minute decision to name Shigeru his sole beneficiary, a move fraught with suspicion. Adding insult to injury, the investigation into Flight 405 has frozen Mr. Matsumoto's expected payout, a fateful coincidence echoed in the bathhouse's whispered conversations.

As they return to Suzie's home, the trio's hearts sink at the devastating sight. The residence has been ransacked, every corner ransacked with ruthless abandon. Masa's office and her son's sanctuary lie in shambles, the violation cutting Suzie to the core. The safety of this sanctuary has been shattered by the Yakuza's sinister reach, leaving no choice but to flee and seek refuge elsewhere.
