This week, Swamp Thing returns with another pulse-pounding episode, inching closer to the grand finale, now mere days away. The series has remained at the pinnacle of excellence, bringing the comic book characters to vivid life with unmatched precision. The horror and drama are seamlessly intertwined, and throughout, the captivating cinematography and intricate plotting have paid homage to the original narrative.

Avery, fresh from his harrowing ordeal last week, wanders through the murky swamp. His mind is besieged by haunting visions: Lucilia, shotgun in hand, poised to fire; his father, axe buried deep in a tree, blood dripping from its wounds. The visions intensify, culminating in a ghastly execution, as vines catapult his father into the raging campfire. Before the nightmares overwhelm him, Alec rescues him and takes him back to his sanctuary in the heart of the swamp. There, he reveals that Avery's relentless exploitation of the swamp has provoked its wrath.

While Matt struggles to heal his wounds and maintain his composure, Abby attempts to justify her actions at the CDC headquarters. She seeks out Harlan, sharing with him her ordeal in the swamp, divulging Alec's abilities. Their heartfelt reunion at her apartment is abruptly interrupted as Harlan is abruptly escorted away by guards.

Desperate, Avery brokers a deal with Alec, promising his assistance in dealing with Woodrue and emphasizing Abby's high praise for him, evidenced by the sample she entrusted him with. Shortly after, Alec disappears, informing Avery of an approaching boat. Avery returns to the mainland, where he meets with Woodrue. The Chief Investor reveals his schemes, but Woodrue opts to align with Avery, seduced by the allure of Alec's regenerative prowess. Together, they return to the swamp, armed with a contingent of special ops soldiers, intent on bringing Swamp Thing down.

Meanwhile, Abby faces her own challenges at the CDC. Realizing her authority has been stripped, she rushes back to the swamp, only to find it devastated, with traces of Alec's capture etched on the scarred earth.

Swamp Thing continues to deliver, setting the stage for an epic conflict. The intricate characterization and plotting are a harmonious blend, and Abby's transformation over the past two months is a testament to the show's brilliance. Avery's cunning manipulation finally yields its greatest prize - Alec Holland. The question of how this will unfold next week is a tantalizing mystery indeed. With its impeccable pacing, captivating characters, and engrossing narrative, the next two episodes promise to be nothing short of spectacular. It's indeed a shame that this won't be continued for a second season, as Swamp Thing (and Doom Patrol before it) have demonstrated how these comic book heroes deserve to be portrayed in a serialized format.
