However, Dana and Helen can't shake off a lingering sense of exclusion, feeling that Maddie has shut them out.

Maddie, feeling guilty, apologizes and clarifies that she and the kids merely wanted to sprinkle some magic and surprise everyone. The trio eventually irons out their differences, toasting to Maddie's new chapter with Cal. As the evening sets in, Helen meets Beatriz at the public library, where they discuss the looming budget cuts threatening the library's future. Back at the Townsends' abode, Ty finally breaks the news to Maddie and Cal about his newfound relationship with Annie. Annie follows suit by sharing the same with her parents. The Magnolias gather to revel in this joyous occasion, with Helen boasting about her early knowledge of the development, reminding everyone of the perks of being a godmother.

The next day unfolds with Dana escorting her students to the market, where she encounters Ronnie. He warmly invites her for dinner later and expresses his immense pride in her accomplishments.

Elsewhere, Ty and Olivia audition a new drummer, and Olivia is thrilled to see Annie keeping her hands off the band's affairs. At home, Paula voices her approval of Cal, adding another layer of support to Maddie's new journey. Later, at work, Kyle and Erik lend a helping hand to Annie in selecting a topic for her college essay, guiding her towards artistic expression and personal growth.

At the bustling spa, the atmosphere grows increasingly frenetic as the town's budget cuts begin to ripple through, impacting numerous children's programs across the community. Noreen, feeling overwhelmed by the demands, implores Maddie to recruit additional assistance. Meanwhile, Dana encounters a roadblock when CJ Camps abruptly resigns, citing his father's unjust dismissal from his council position by Helen. He declares his unwillingness to continue working for the foundation due to Helen's involvement. Dana confronts Helen, clarifying that she did not terminate CJ Camps' father's employment; rather, he had chosen to depart voluntarily during a discussion about further budget reductions.

As dusk descends, Olivia pays a visit to Ty's home to discuss their thrilling upcoming tour. With a fresh face behind the drums, they are poised to embark within a week. However, Ty hesitates, prompting Olivia to urge him to rally his spirits and devise a way to juggle his commitments to his newfound love and the band.

Simultaneously, Maddie convenes an unplanned gathering with the ladies to deliberate on recruiting extra hands at the spa. They collectively agree that they should extend an invitation to Carla for the role.

Elsewhere, Erik and Genevieve unwind at their abode, sharing their aspirations and dreams. Isaac delights Noreen with an impromptu outing to celebrate her productive day.

The following day, Dana and Erik engage in a conversation about the impending restaurant opening, with Erik brimming with excitement. Conversely, Dana remains concerned about inspiring her students. At the mayor's office, Peggy and Helen engage in a fiery exchange regarding the Magnolias' decision to hire Carla. Peggy contends that it sends the wrong message, while Helen disagrees, asserting that the issues are unrelated. Peggy vents her frustration, highlighting the emotional and physical strain of her mayoral duties on her and her family.

Concurrently, Bonnie Townsend arrives at Maddie's residence, delivering the startling news of Billie's passing.
