After Midge's scintillating performance in the main room, her warm-up act in episode 4 of Marvelous Mrs Maisel captivated the audience, with every word she uttered leaving them hanging on her lips. Post-show, she dialed home, but at the wee hour of 1 a.m., Ethan remained elusive. Instead, she ventured out, immersing herself in the thrills of drag racing, only to be unexpectedly joined by Susie. Meanwhile, Abe was jolted awake at the ungodly hour of 5 a.m. by Moishe, narrowly escaping a collision with the milkman as he realized his predicament was far from ideal. Rose, on the other hand, was besieged by a cacophony of sound, as both the radio and TV blared at full volume. Joined by Zelda, they trudged upstairs, lamenting their predicaments while Midge basked in the glory of hers.

Susie received a check, initially believing she had been overpaid, but upon entering the office, she was stunned to learn from Angie that she had, in fact, been underpaid. Elsewhere, Mei arrived with a surprise for Joel - a jukebox. After dancing the night away, she gracefully exited, leaving Abe and Rose to grapple with their own struggles. To compound their woes, Abe's editorial vision for the paper was thrown into turmoil when his police charges were unexpectedly dropped.

Midge extended an invitation to Joel to Vegas, where he sat, captivated, as she graced the stage. Meanwhile, Susie succeeded in convincing Gavin Hawk to join them for a significant gig featuring Sophie, but despite this promising news, Sophie confessed that she needed sexual chemistry with Gavin for the collaboration to succeed.

As the night wore on, Midge and Joel awoke in each other's arms, and as dawn broke, they were photographed sealing the deal with a marriage certificate and a diamond ring gracing Midge's finger. Joel's panic escalated, particularly with Mei's presence, and as he fled, Abe and Rose called Midge, sharing their own woes. Upon learning of Midge's marriage, Susie chastised her and, as Midge headed for the stage, Susie retreated to the craps table once again.

While the episodic format of this season remains intriguing, Midge's isolation from the other characters feels like a missed opportunity. She is the glue that binds the narrative together, and this season lacks the same cohesion as its predecessors. Mei and Joel's unconventional but intriguing relationship suffers from a lack of screen time, leaving the audience wanting more. The forced drama surrounding Midge and Joel's Vegas marriage feels contrived, serving more as a means to inject tension into the proceedings. However, despite these grievances, there is much to appreciate in this season, and it continues to deliver visually stunning set-pieces that are undeniably captivating.
