Episode 4 of The Serpent commences on a fateful day in Nepal, December 23rd, 1975. A youthful boy chances upon the charred remains of a pair, leaving behind a trail of sorrow and mystery. The scene shifts abruptly to the airport, where Marie, her heart heavy, boards a flight destined for Kathmandu, not France. Shockwaves ripple through her when she realizes she's utilizing Helena's passport. To compound her distress, Ajay excitedly reveals that the burnt couple is believed to be Australian.

The journey to Kathmandu soon turns tumultuous as Charles squanders all their funds in a reckless bet. Unfazed, he dismisses the loss, claiming it can be easily replenished. However, Marie's composure shatters, her breath coming in rapid gasps. She pleads for an end to this turmoil. After compensating Ajay, Charles confronts Marie with a stern gaze, keeping her in check. As a test of her loyalty, he coerces her to sip a tea laced with crushed pills.

Unfortunately, Ajay finds himself at the mercy of Charles' wrath when he sleeps with a fellow traveler. In a cold, calculated manner, Charles approaches, pins him down, and declares that he is no longer a brother.

The next morning, Marie awakens to find a crimson rose resting on her bedside. She ventures out into the bustling streets, engaging in conversation with a couple. Their discussion of gemstones piques her interest, and she persuades them to accompany her. However, Charles interjects, revealing their stones to be mere glass, offering to escort them to the mountains the following day.

Later, Ajay and Charles drug the unsuspecting couple, slicing them apart before setting their bodies ablaze. With their illicit gains in hand, they return to the hotel to settle their account.

In the present, Remi guides Knippenberg to the post office in a desperate search for Nadine. Their quest leads Remi alone to Kanit House, where he discovers Nadine amidst Charles and their company. As they depart for the evening, they hand over a commission for all the clients they've brought to his attention.

The duo promptly dialed Knippenberg's number, informing him of their union. Nadine intended to provide crucial evidence, yet Remi and Nadine warned her of the need for discretion. For the moment, they would focus on capturing images. Armed with these photographs, they could approach the police with a solid case against Charles.

Remi and Nadine executed their roles flawlessly, snapping pictures by the poolside. However, Ajay stubbornly refused to be photographed, and surprisingly, Charles followed suit. Nadine seized the moment, scattering ice across the floor and seizing the opportunity to capture images around the room while everyone was distracted.

Meanwhile, the Ambassador appeared, confronting Herman about the case he was inadvertently involved in. With the plethora of newspapers and case files he had received, the Ambassador threatened to recall him. Fortunately, Remi and Nadine arrived that evening with a reel of photographs, confirming the evidence they had gathered.

Moreover, Nadine presented a detailed floor plan of the apartment, highlighting the location of the safe where the passports were stored. Among the photographs was a business card from the Kathmandu Hotel.

Herman hastened to Paul Siemons's office, where they pieced together the trail of victims, ultimately leading them to Laver. The testimonies of Viola and Greg mentioned a white dog, and remarkably, Nadine's photo revealed Marie with such a dog.

With this compelling evidence in hand, Herman dialed Kanit House, determined to extract Remi and Nadine from the situation. Alas, when he called, there was no response.
