Amidst another of Jaskier's uproarious melodies, which provided a welcome comedic respite, Geralt apologizes for his past words and enlists the bard's assistance in the search for Yennefer and Ciri. As they delve into discussions about Yennefer, Geralt pieces together the puzzle. He surmises that she is collaborating with the enigmatic Deathless Mother, implying a journey to Cintra. Suddenly, an axe slices through the air, narrowly grazing Jaskier's shirt, shocking both men.

The assailant turns out to be a dwarf named Yarpen Zigrin, a long-time acquaintance of Geralt's. Without hesitation, he offers his steed and joins the quest, galloping towards Cintra.

Meanwhile, Yennefer guides Ciri to an abandoned cabin. Ciri ponders over her next step, but ultimately, they decide to head towards Cintra, where Ciri intends to confront the Black Knight. However, Yen harbors a secret agenda—a sinister plan to trade the girl in exchange for the restoration of her powers.

As they descend towards the river, Yen attempts to guide Ciri in harnessing her powers. Blood trickles from Ciri's eyes as she struggles to conjure a rope-bridge, but the attempt falters. Nonetheless, Yen encourages her not to apologize for wielding magic.

Meanwhile, Cahir and Fringilla's divergence of opinions over Nilfgaard's future escalated. Cahir advocated for a firm military stance to assert Nilfgaard's might, yet Fringilla hesitated. Her silence as she pondered whether to execute a woman was deafening, provoking Cahir's mockery, "A leader, you truly are." Taking this criticism to heart, Fringilla confronted Filavandrel about the war raging in Nilfgaard, with Francesca present. Their reluctance to engage in the conflict threatened to rupture the fragile alliance they had so painstakingly forged.

News of the newborn elf child reached the ears of Tissaia, relayed by Dijkstra. As Triss and Tissaia's trust shattered due to Tissaia's revelation of her whereabouts, Fringilla fretted over her own fate. After recruiting the elves to fight for them, the child's birth had them second-guessing their strategies. This was particularly troubling as the White Flame's impending visit loomed large.

Fringilla took decisive action, poisoning her disloyal soldiers' mead with nightshade, rendering them immobile. She then brandished a knife and systematically dispatched them, one by one. The bone-chilling laughter of Voleth Meir echoed through the chamber as Fringilla persuaded Cahir to stand by her side and justify her actions to Emhyr.

Rience summoned Lydia to assist in harnessing Ciri's blood. As she consumed it, screams rent the air. Though their screen time was brief, their involvement seemed pivotal.

Ciri's relationship with Yen took a distressing turn. Realizing Yennefer had betrayed them, Ciri confronted her, standing on the brink of Cintra. With the world's cracks widening, alarms blared and soldiers converged on them. Surrounded and hopeless, Geralt and his companions arrived, reversing the tide.

After dispatching the Cintran soldiers, Geralt entrusted Jaskier with escorting Ciri to Kaer Morhen for safety. Geralt, however, embarked on a monster hunt, tracking the Deathless Mother. But she eluded him, escaping from the hut.

That night, darkness descended. Filavandrel and Francesca awoke to a nightmare—their infant lay slain. Worse still, Voleth Meir, the Deathless Mother, materialized from the air and seized control of Ciri's body.
