In a private moment of confessions, Tenax opens up to Cala, revealing how he eked out a living in Rome's harsh streets, scavenging for sustenance. A fleeting tension arises between them as Cala departs.

Elsewhere, Rufus' wife and son depart to reside with Caltonia, their relocation assisted by Fonsoa, Elia's brother, who finds a kindred spirit in their plight. It is also disclosed that Flamma has garnered the prestigious Wooden Sword thrice yet remains devoted to the gladiatorial arena.

Unfortunately, Rufus's financial prospects remain bleak, but Berenice reaches out to him with an offer to work for Tenax, cognizant of the covert connection between Domitian and the powerful corporation. As the fight commences, two gladiators fall swiftly, their feet severed by Kwame's blade as the ground trembles beneath their feet. Kwame's mighty strike against the monstrous opponent wins over the crowd, and the game is mercifully halted, sparing Kwame's life.

However, just as hope begins to bloom, a volcanic eruption, a veritable embodiment of the gods' wrath, engulfs Rome in a choking cloud of dust, signaling the beginning of an era of uncertainty and turmoil.
