In the bygone days of Tiny Beautiful Things' second episode, we witnessed Clare's escalating anxiety as their estranged father was set to attend their mother's funeral. On the fateful day, Clare and Lucas gathered their mother's cherished garments and meaningful possessions, intending to lay them in the coffin. However, Joel, the coordinator, interjected with a stern reminder that the attire would be incomplete without a pair of underwear.

Joel, a cherished childhood friend, unwittingly triggered Amy's ire by invoking obscure State regulations that no one seemed to heed. With a touch of defensiveness, Joel clarified that his mother was the one responsible for the elaborate dressing, as she held a particular penchant for such details. Lucas, on the other hand, requested Clare to hand over hers, only to find out that she wasn't adorned with any such attire.

Consequently, they ventured out to acquire fresh underwear. Lucas entered the store but opted for the most economical pair, much to Amy's dismay. She was visibly agitated by his choice, and Joel promptly stepped in to soothe her agitated spirits. In her fragile moment,Clare advances forward, engaging in an intimate union with him. Suddenly, the chapel doors creak open, and Jess, Clare's husband, appears, unbeknownst to them. Joel's eyes widen in astonishment, mirroring our own shocked expressions.

As the trio headed back, Lucas's disappointment was palpable, feeling a void where their father's presence should have been. Clare's thoughts drifted back to a bygone moment, to the time she had spent with Frances in Roscoe's Pharmacy, immediately after the stark reality of her cancer diagnosis had sunk in.

In a haunting nightmare, Clare heard her mother's stern voice echoing, urging her to "do better." She jolted awake, realizing she had once again found herself in Bev's room. Beverly, wide-eyed and alert, whispered that "her wife" was much like Clare's own mother in that aspect.

Clare, shaken, sought out Amy and poured her heart out about the encounter with the cab driver. It felt like the universe had intervened, preventing her from engaging in a sexual encounter with the man when he couldn't "make the connection." Clare couldn't fathom why she had sought Amy's ear, and Amy, too, was bewildered by the confession. Suddenly, their mutual writing group walked in, prompting Amy to make a hasty exit, leaving Clare with her thoughts and a sense of unresolved mystery.

Clare and Beverly were deep in conversation, contemplating the benefits of sleeping commando at night for their well-being. Suddenly, Beverly expressed a desire to return home, causing Clare to soothe her friend's agitated emotions.

Clare vowed to discuss the matter with Krystal, but the next morning, she was shocked to learn that Krystal had accused her of assaulting Beverly, backed by video evidence. The revelation left Clare distraught, and she retreated to her house, where an unexpected sight awaited her: Rae indulging in a threesome with her schoolmates.

Clare's anger erupted, and she confronted Rae, reprimanding her sharply. Rae retorted, and soon, the two girls were embroiled in a heated altercation. The police were summoned, and Clare was suspended from school pending an investigation.

Danny picked her up, his face clouded with disapproval. Clare, feeling defensive, blamed Danny for distancing her from Rae. She explained how she had been sleeping in Beverly's room as a means of support. With a heavy heart, Clare pleaded to return home, and Danny reluctantly agreed.

As Clare recounted the sordid details of the threesome to Danny, she was relegated to the basement. In the solitude of the room, she penned a response to Sam, accepting his offer to become Sugar. She also delved into the contents of the box Lucas had sent, finding renewed conviction in her ability to be a writer and embrace her identity as her mother's daughter.
