Tracker – Season 1 Episode 8

Published: May 31 2024

In the eighth episode of Season 1 of Tracker, Colter Shaw arrives in Camden, Maine, on a mission to track down a missing dockworker named Ethan "Sully" Sullivan. His girlfriend, Daniella Barrera, has enlisted Shaw's help, and they meet at the restaurant where she works. Daniella reveals that Sully has been missing for two days, a highly unusual occurrence given that they are scheduled to tie the knot in just two weeks.

While Colter considers the possibility that Sully might be having cold feet about the wedding, Daniella quickly dismisses this suggestion. The conversation turns to Sully's troubled past with law enforcement, including his frequent involvement with juvenile detention as a child. Daniella's father, Dwayne, expresses skepticism that Sully is in trouble, suggesting instead that he might be hiding from something due to his criminal record.

Daniella also mentions a fight that Sully had with Ryan Hopkins, another dockworker, on the night he disappeared. Sheriff Miller informs the family that Sully's car has been found abandoned in the forest, and they head to the scene with Colter to investigate. After examining the car, Colter deduces that it was deliberately driven off a cliff using a powder bag, an attempt to create the illusion that Sully had driven off in a drunken stupor.

Miller is reluctant to work with Colter, believing that the off-season brings increased crime to the city and traps vulnerable men like Sully. Determined to find Sully, Colter heads to the docks to confront Ryan. He wants to know more about the altercation between the two men, but Ryan becomes defensive under questioning, although his responses seem sincere.

With the help of his associate Bobby, Colter manages to track down the name of a woman, Simone Dawson, who Sully had been communicating with frequently. They had attended school together and had a prior relationship. Colter heads to Simone's house but finds it broken into. Inside, he stumbles upon her lifeless body and immediately calls the police. Miller suspects that Sully may have been involved in her death, but Colter remains skeptical, suggesting that it could be a case of robbery gone wrong.

Bobby tracked down the precise location of the bar where Simone had sought solace the evening Sully vanished. Interestingly, Bobby's own credit card records revealed that he too had been present, as the charges for his drinks were still fresh in the system.

Colter, eager to unearth more clues, met with Chelsea, the proprietor of the bar. She assured him that the evening had passed uneventfully, yet Colter's keen eye caught a glimpse of Zach, a young worker skulking in the shadows. Zach, less guarded than Chelsea, revealed a different tale. He recounted the arrival of two men, shortly after Sully, who had sent a ripple of fear through the couple. One of the men was known only by the nickname "Clem." Their presence had prompted an abrupt departure from the bar by Sully and Simone.

As Colter departed, Chelsea covertly dialed a number, whispering about the tracker's knowledge of Sully and Clem. Back on the trail, Colter contacted Miller and discovered that "Clem" was none other than Dougie Clemence, a notorious thug recently released from prison. The two men converged at Clem's dilapidated house, uncovering a dark secret within. Evidence suggested that someone had been brought inside, handcuffed, and subjected to torture in the bedroom.

The question lingered: what did Clem want with Sully? Colter's investigation led him to Velma, who revealed a shocking past. Clem and Sully had been accomplices in a failed robbery that had landed Clem in prison for years. Sully, meant to be the lookout, had betrayed his partner, leaving Clem to face the consequences alone. This revelation provided a motive for Clem's vengeance.

Colter followed Chelsea to a hidden location, where he discovered a sinister plot. Sully was being held hostage by a shadowy group, including Ryan and Clem. Colter snapped photos of their clandestine meeting and brought the evidence to Daniella. She revealed that Ryan had been seeking a job at the warehouse, where Sully worked as a security guard but had refused to assist him.

The warehouse was currently closed for gas line repairs, but Colter suspected that Sully might still possess the credentials to access the premises. Although ostensibly a storage facility for lobsters, Colter sensed that something more sinister was being smuggled within the crates.

Bobby's urgent call interrupted Colter's thoughts. Sully had used his card to access the warehouse minutes ago. Colter sprang into action, neutralizing Ryan as the lookout and alerting Miller to the developing situation. He crept inside, unearthing Clem's plan to steal drugs concealed in the lobster boxes. Another associate, holding Sully at gunpoint, was swiftly disarmed by Colter. Sully confirmed Colter's suspicions, revealing that the men had threatened his family to coerce his participation in Daniella's scheme.

As the police sirens drew nearer, Sully, now free from captivity, grasped a loaded gun and confronted Clem. Colter, sensing the tense situation, managed to persuade the emotionally charged Sully to let Clem go. Clem fled, only to be apprehended by the waiting officers outside. Sully was reunited with his family, his return a testament to the transformation he had undergone.
