For twenty long years, Mrs. Yost relentlessly rejected Alma's attempts at fostering a friendship. As Bertram and Alma lay her to rest beneath a bed of flowers, Alma desired to honor her with the same blossoms. When Bertram mentioned that he had discussed flowers with her and deemed Alma's garden as ordinary and unremarkable, she was finally prepared to entomb the woman beneath them. This woman who scorned Alma's flowers for two decades would now gaze upwards at them for all eternity. Alma had evolved, yet she failed to realize that her world had grown even more vibrant. Bertram busied himself with preparing breakfast in the morning, yet it failed to satisfy Alma's palate. They needed to devise a strategy to explain the mysterious disappearance of Mrs. Yost. Alma, however, remained unperturbed. She speculated that Mrs. Yost lacked friends, perhaps that was the reason for her perpetual foul mood, Bertram suggested.

Dee returned home to find her parents blissfully reconciled, their bond restored. She pondered if something was amiss with Mrs. Yost, as the dog within barked incessantly. The garden club convened to nominate new members, but Catherine interjected with inquiries about her Chinatown apartment. She had rented it to escape Carlo's violent, alcoholic rampages.

Once Alma stepped into Mrs. Yost's abode, she was awestruck by every detail. It was no surprise that Mrs. Yost believed she outshone Alma, as she truly did. The plan was set: they would orchestrate a vacation for Mrs. Yost, ensuring she got lost before ever reaching her intended destination.

Dee eagerly offered to treat Vern to breakfast, her heart fluttering with joy after receiving a dozen roses and an apology call from Scooter. Dee mused that if Scooter were truly head over heels for her, he would have thanked her with a sumptuous dinner.

Eager to gauge Scooter's feelings for her, Dee orchestrated a dinner, only to be dismissed with a laugh and a brush-off. But Dee was not one to be fooled easily.

Meanwhile, Alma was dressed to the nines in Mrs. Yost's elegant suit, ready to stage a ruse to throw off any suspicion of Mrs. Yost's demise. She spoke cordially to a neighbor while walking the dog, and soon after, "Mrs. Yost" drove off in her car.

Rita desired a truce with Catherine. She had reinvented herself for Carlo, yet he treated her as if she were still the cocktail waitress he met in El Paso. Despite her efforts to love him, Carlo remained indifferent, even cruel. Furthermore, Rita had overheard his harsh words to Catherine over the phone.

She rejoiced in the knowledge that she wasn't alone in enduring his brutal treatment. Catherine had once been engaged to a man named Hank, but Carlo's malicious whispers had shattered that union, insinuating that a man like Hank would only choose Catherine if he were a gold-digger. Ironically, he married his very own fortune hunter, leaving Catherine empty-handed. Dee commissioned Vern to verify the authenticity of Scooter's claims, yet she longed to be by his side. He insisted on working alone, but Dee offered to double his pay if she could accompany him. He declined to charge her, but she insisted, tripling the amount.

Alma and Bertram revisited a restaurant they had frequented during their honeymoon, but Alma's presence was quickly recognized by Tom Madison. His charm was as captivating as ever, complimenting her suit and her appearance. She giggled, reminiscent of a schoolgirl's innocence. Bertram, however, was displeased to find them dining with Tom.

As the maid painted Rita's toenails, they whispered gossip about Catherine. Tom, now divorced, had lost his friends due to neglect, leading him to let Rita go. Bertram chuckled when Alma confessed that she and Tom had ventured beyond just kisses. She startled him by admitting that he was her first, albeit in the most sinister sense.

Rita schemed to manipulate Scooter into betraying Catherine, seeing it as an opportunity to swoop in and save the day. Dee and Vern observed from afar, and Dee was dismayed by Rita's beauty. She felt foolish in comparison. Dee intervened, revealing that she had been instructed to use a disguise to approach Scooter, much to Rita's disgust. Dee mocked her, saying that at least she hadn't had to pay to get his attention before she departed. Rita followed suit, leaving in a huff.

As Alma and Bertram prepared to liberate "Mrs. Yost" from her watery prison, Bertram's fury towards Tom could no longer be contained. Once the car was completely submerged, Alma realized with a jolt that she had left her purse inside. The earlier argument had indeed created a mess. Without hesitation, Bertram plunged into the murky depths of the car to retrieve the forgotten purse. He emerged victorious, but unfortunately, his trousers had snagged on something, trapping him in the depths.

Alma, realizing the gravity of the situation, quickly sprang into action. She dived into the water, determined to save her companion. As they struggled together, it seemed as if fate might be bringing them closer than ever before.

Meanwhile, Vern escorted Dee home, where she poured out her heart about how her mother had made her feel inadequate for her entire life. She invited him for a drink, but he politely declined. He offered to assist her with the door, but she waved him off. Vern always treated her with the utmost respect, which she deeply appreciated.

Back in the living room, Dee played a record and let her body sway to the music. Alone, Vern returned to his home and poured himself a drink. His leg, still mangled, throbbed with pain.

Dee's parents arrived home, their appearance suggesting they had enjoyed a night of merriment. Giggling and joking, they entered the house. Out in the front yard, Rocco was busy digging up the earth, intent on uncovering Mrs. Yost's final resting place.
