As we embark on the second episode of Yellowjackets' sophomore season, the scene opens with a poignant visual of Shauna engaged in a heart-to-heart with Jackie, their conversation huddled within the confines of the shed. Amidst the somber tones, Jackie's wit shines through as she quips about Shauna's macabre act of burying her severed ear, a dark humor that masks their dire predicament—the dwindling food supplies. Tenderly, Shauna weaves a braid into Jackie's hair, a makeshift veil to conceal the disfigurement, a gesture of compassion amidst despair.

Yellowjackets – Season 2 Episode 2 1

Back at the cabin, an air of anxiety hangs heavy over the girls, their minds consumed with worry for Shauna. Yet, amidst this turmoil, Lottie and Tai stand as beacons of understanding, advocating for Shauna's right to mourn Jackie's passing in her own unique way, allowing her the space to process the unimaginable loss.

But Tai's tranquility is shattered when she stumbles upon a nauseating revelation—the pungent stench of misuse, the pee bucket defiled by an unspeakable act. Her anger boils over, a righteous indignation at the disregard for their already fragile existence in this wilderness.

When no one comes through, she throws it away herself. Shawna's conversation with Jackie becomes even weirder and more ominous when Jackie starts cutting off the flesh from her hands to satisfy Shawna's "hunger." It turns out that the person holding the sword is Shuna.

Jackie subsequently implores Shona to adorn her body with makeup, transforming her into a spectacle. That very night, Van abruptly stirs from slumber, only to discover Tai's absence. Tai, in a trance-like state of sleepwalking, experiences another haunting vision of the eyeless man, mirroring her grandmother's terrors. It is a narrow escape as Van, acting swiftly, prevents Tai from plummeting over a treacherous cliff. Tai remains perplexed, unable to unravel the mystery behind her ordeal or its cause.

As dawn breaks, Natalie's gaze falls upon Travis, once more engaged in conversation with Lottie. Their subsequent hunt for Javi takes an unexpected turn when Travis deliberately veers off the prescribed path, a stark contrast to Natalie's customary leadership. She instructs him to rendezvous at a designated spot as the sun dips towards the horizon.

Meanwhile, Tai confronts Shauna in public, her eyes fixed on Jackie's overly made-up visage. Lottie attempts to shield Shauna, yet even she acknowledges the unsettling nature of the situation. Tai declares their need to honor Jackie's passing through cremation, a pronouncement that sends Shauna into a flurry of anxiety and agitation.

Natalie, resourceful as ever, employs a fragment of Javi's clothing, staining it with her own blood, and presents it to Travis as irrefutable proof of her brother's demise. The gesture forces Travis to confront the harsh reality, his denial momentarily shattered.

As they embark on the solemn task of laying Jackie to rest, Lottie gently urges the other girls to grant Shauna the solitude she needs. Despite noticing the telltale knife scar etched on Jackie's arm, Lottie keeps her observations to herself. Shauna's emotional farewell resonates deeply as she lights the pyre, igniting a poignant symbol of their loss. Lottie's eyes briefly alight upon a garment belonging to Javi, yet she insists, her senses assuring her that he is, in essence, Alice. Natalie, swift to intervene, hushes her.

That very night, Travis endeavors to rekindle his connection with Natalie, initiating a tender moment marked by a kiss. But as his lips meet hers, he's transported in a disconcerting out-of-body experience, where Lottie's ethereal presence hovers nearby. Within Travis, an eerie glow seems to emanate, mirroring the unsettling turn of events.

Suddenly, a bizarre spectacle unfolds: an icy boulder crashes down upon the roaring pyre, instantly extinguishing the flames in a stark contrast to the inferno's former fury. The scene defies comprehension, leaving everyone in a state of bewilderment.

Then, an act so appalling and overtly cannibalistic takes center stage. Jackie's body, far from reducing to mere ashes, has been transformed into a feast for the senses—a perfectly seared, edible marvel. The girls awaken simultaneously, drawn like moths to a flame, and circle the pyre. Shauna, her voice imbued with a strange conviction, declares that Jackie wishes for them to consume her, and with eerie unison, they obey, surrounding the pyre in a ritualistic feast.

Ben, witnessing this grotesque spectacle, is consumed by horror, retreating to the confines of his bed, seeking solace from the nightmare that has become their reality.
